[UPDATE Tuesday] State Route 197 Closed due to Slide
Information from Caltrans District 1:
Route 197 in Del Norte County is closed due to a slide covering both lanes. Traffic is being detoured to Route 199. There’s no estimated time of opening but we’ll update you here when we have more info.
SEMI TRUCKERS: Note, commercial trucks will be unable to use the 199 detour due to some tight curves in that stretch.

Fort Dick has got something like 11 inches the last day and a half. This is just the last 24 hours

🕯Thank you Kym for the update.
197 is also flooded north of the slide.
It started raining, HARD, at midnight on the 6th, and didn’t break or even slow until noon today. Then it took about an hour off and there have been about five bands of hard rain in the last couple hours. Looks as though this is really only hitting this hard in the top left corner of Del Norte, but… whoa. NOT kidding lots of rain here, and the first twelve hours of it were packed with gale force winds. It’s a miracle we haven’t lost power yet.
Amen to that
