Fortuna Seeks Planning Commissioners and Measure E Committee Members

The following is a press release from the City of Fortuna:

Notice is hereby given that the Fortuna City Council is accepting applications for membership on the Fortuna Planning Commission and the Measure E Oversight Committee. Appointments to be made by the City Council as soon as possible.

To qualify for membership on any Council appointed board, commission or committee, a person must be 18 year of age or older and a registered elector of the City OR be the owner of a business located within the city limits. However, in no event shall less than a majority of any board or commission be made up of qualified registered electors of the city.

The vacancies currently available are:

Planning Commission: 3 Seats 1 Alternate Measure E Oversight Committee: 2 Seats

The Planning Commission is responsible for advising the City Council on environmental matters and the development of the City. Part of those responsibilities include making recommendations on the General Plan, zoning of property, the capital improvement program, annexations, and subdivisions of land. The Planning Commission is also responsible for making decisions on design review, small subdivisions of land, use permits, and variances. The Planning Commission meets twice a month, the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

The Measure E Oversight Committee’s purpose is to assist the City Council in taking public input and review staffrecommendations on the expenditure of funds derived from the local sales tax imposed pursuant to Measure E. The Measure E Committee meets the third month of each quarter (March, June, September, December), plus January on the third Tuesday of the chosen month at 5:30 p.m.

City Commission application forms can be obtained at City Hall or on the City website www.friendlyfortuna.com. Applications for current Commission and Committee vacancies will be accepted until vacancies have been filled.

🕯Good morning Kelley. Fortuna is so far out of code,city,county or state they need to elect a whole set of city officials. Ever since there code inspector got busted the whole town needs to be reinspected.

What are you talking about? The inspector lived in Fortuna but was an inspector for the county
