SoHum Guild Offering ‘Introduction to Natural Farming Inputs’ Course

This is a press release from SoHum Guild:

A 6-week course on Natural Farming, led by Wendy Kornberg, will kick off in Garberville on Wednesday, March 27th from 5:30-7:30pm. Kornberg was trained in the Natural Farming methodology by Chris Trump, who has spearheaded the movement in America and studied under its original founder, Master Han-Kyu Cho. This course is geared for both beginning gardeners and seasoned farmers alike. The techniques taught during the workshops can be utilized for any size of garden or farm, from a few backyard garden beds to a large scale multi-hundred acre business.

Kornberg will cover how to make all the major inputs as well as how to combine them properly, and she will teach students how and when to use the recipes for the best nutritive support of the plant and soil. The “beyond organic” practices that natural farming encompasses creates a bed of fungal dominant living soil which is naturally inhospitable to weeds which prefer bacterially dominant, distressed ground to grow in. When utilized appropriately, this way of growing plants produces a far superior crop for all foods and medicines, as well as a healthier plant that is more resistant to pest pressures and pathogens. An added perk of Natural Farming is that it is a very low-cost farming method and most major ingredients can be sourced locally from any backyard, forestland, or pastureland.

Classes begin on March 27th and run from 5:30pm to 7:30pm every Wednesday for six weeks. They will be held at the SoHum Guild office located at 665 Redwood Drive in Garberville. Class size is limited so advance registration is encouraged. For more information, including online course options, email [email protected]. Tickets are available via Eventbrite under ‘Introduction to Natural Farming Inputs’.
