Public Comment on Humboldt County Sheriff’s Off-Highway Vehicle Grant Application Coming Soon

Icon HCSO Humboldt County Sheriff's OfficePress release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office will be seeking public comments on their proposal for the 2018/2019 State of California Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) grant program. According to state requirements, public comments can be submitted from March 5 through May 6, 2019.

The Sheriff’s Office is soliciting public input specific to the 2018/2019 cooperative agreement with the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Division. This grant will be for law enforcement activities including, but not limited to, providing visitor safety, search and rescue capabilities, informing and educating the public regarding environmental issues, and proper off-highway vehicle riding techniques

A two-step application process is used by the State of California to allow public comment and feedback before final submittal. The preliminary application must be submitted by March 4, 2019. This opens the public review and comment period and will follow with final applications due June 3, 2019. The state uses an internet-based “On-Line Grant Application” process as the means to apply for state funding. The preliminary application will be available online by visiting the California State OHV Grants and Cooperative Agreements program at http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov. Select the Grants tab at the top of website and at the home page select “Public Review Instructions” on the left.

For grant related questions, please contact Lieutenant Fridley at 707-268-3608 or [email protected] [email protected].

Okay, I’m stupid. Is it okay to call myself stupid? This announcement makes absolutely no sense to me. And, I read it three times.

The link does not work for me, I hope that I’m just having a bad day, and I’m not really that dense.

Can anyone tell me what this is all about?…. pleaeese.

Logic is the art of going wrong with confidence. -Joseph Wood Krutch

It’s about Grant$, Grant$ and more Grant$. Feeding at the public finance trough. Never mind the Republic.

There’s even classes offered on becoming a Grant Application filler-outer. How proud.

Thank you Kym, you always come through for us. I used the link to an even more confusing website.

I am going to use my “fallback method”. That is a method that I use when I can’t get answers. You can ask a thousand question and never get an answer, but if you just do something, a thousand people will tell you what you are doing wrong.

So, I’m just going to crank up my trusty old off-roader an go boony-bashing. I’ll fill you in on what this is all about. Until then please don’t bother doing any more work on this. You have far more important things to do, which I appreciate.

I would ask, about the law enforcement activities? Where does one get the proper off high way riding techniques education claimed in this grant? Does the Sheriff plan to give these instructions in classes? Also where are we to get the educating the public on environmental issues? Where does this grant funding go since we dont have very many off riding areas to speak of only dirt I ride on are county roads IE Paradise road< or King Peak rd or maybe Usal never seen the Sheriff out there only the BLM Ranger on occasion. only asking for clarification

Educating the public about environmental issues sounds like we’re going to find out just how many ludicrous regulations there are actually on the books, that we didn’t ask for and which make absolutely no sense.

Ticket city!…and just when you thought you were far enough out to where no one would bother you.

Yep Steve Parr that’s how it is in California now they have stolen our liberty and enslaved us with thousands of laws, ordinances, permits for everything you can imagine, and fines, fees, and taxes. Bolth my grandfather’s were in ww2 to preserve us living in a FREE country and they’re rolling over in there graves seeing what this has turned into!!! Don’t buy the lie because that’s what it is this country and especially this state has become anything but a free country. Extortion by government and law enforcement is so rampant that it’s like they’ve thrown a cou to overthrow the constitution, the very basis of our society! !!!!!!!!
