Team Beast 7th grade girls took first place in the Hardwood Palace Xtreme Hoops Presidents Day Challenge on February 16 and 17 in Rocklin, California. Team Beast is an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball organization based in the Eureka area.

Members of Team Beast are Anyessa Bettega, Haidyn Fulton, Kaitlin Giacone, Sissy Vainuku-Johnson, Maleesa Miles, Jasmine Palmerin, Isis Poteet, Mia Rasmussen, Isabella Turner, Natalyia Turner and Katherine Young. The team is coached by Tony Miles and Ana Vainuku-Johnson.

The team competed in the 7th/8th grade girls white division and came out victorious, even against teams at the 8th grade level.

The mission of Team Beast AAU is to increase each player’s basketball IQ, skill sets and fundamentals while also teaching life lessons through the game of basketball.

The next competition for Team Beast will be in Redding on March 16 and 17.
