I feel safer in Garberville than anywhere else in the world. Honestly, kinda annoyed I gotta put on my seatbelt in town because of the overpolicing lately.

‘Legallettuce’ you are probably the only person who feels like you do… safe or not safe in town that’s up for debate, but not wearing a seatbelt, that’s not up for debate. Just put it on every time so when you crash, someone else doesn’t have to scrape your damaged body out of your seat… It’s traumatic for first responders dealing with fools who don’t wear a seatbelts. And for your information… airbags are designed to be used with a seatbelt restraint, an airbag could kill you if you aren’t wearing a seatbelt, sit too close, or are frail… Seriously talk to a first responder about not wearing a seatbelt…

How many driving fatalities have occurred in downtown Garberville, none. As I stated it is annoying the overpolicing when I come down from the hill. Airbags, lol, my truck does not have airbags. I suppose you’re also against me driven down a category 3 road drink’in a beer as well. You ever take that dodge off of pavement or do you just shovel mud on it?

In my on off 40 years around Garberville I have never had an issue or felt unsafe. I was there today even went to the plaza. Got hit up for change, gave some change. Got hit up for a smoke, gave a smoke away. Got hit up again said no and that I went over my giving quota for the day and the homeless dude thanked me. Go do that in any other town see what happens.

seatbelts also cause desths and injuries. the way i see it the plnet is over populated as it is. if obe is old enough to join the military or vote one should also be able to decide which risks they want to take with their well being. the seat belt laws are a perfect example of just how unfree we truely are here. i have yet to see any study done on the number of deaths or damages caused to others by someone not wearing a seat belt. it is just another reason to stop and question search etc. the fact that there is no fighting a seatbelt ticket is also questionable as when you do go to court it is merely your word against the officers and guess who the judge beleives. again crazy to say that this is a free country.

The old “wear your seatbelt for the sake of the first responders” argument. Smoke another one.

Coffee with a cop meetings have been happening for a while. Here’s one in SoHum since long before the filming of Murder Mountain. https://kymkemp.com/2017/09/17/coffee-with-a-cop-in-sohum/

They are not fun. I say we take one growdozer and one cop car and let the community throw eggs or paintball gun’em. Have local peeps clean’em up for community service hours that been arrested when done. I am sure some of them coppers wouldn’t mind egg’in a growdozer. Water balloons for the kiddos.

seems creepy, not safe nor fun… I have a hard time believing the local cops truly care about the opinions of us taxpayers they are sworn to protect & serve. Anonymity would be the only way I’d express anything directly to them. When I think of our local police, a heart and an open hand don’t come to mind.

Legal lettuce I agree with you, garberville is the safest place on the planet to me.born and raised here and this is home! !! The way I see it is let people from elsewhere believe the hype and let em stay away, the only thing I’m not liking is the targeting from the county.the board of extortion (BOS) is destroying this community ,ruining the once happy elevated spirits of the people.but as far as being scared to walk down the streets not at all!!!! . As far as brainstorming a plan we need to kick a few of the members of the board of supervisors the duck out of humboldt county. Escort em to the county line with there rip off belongings to never return

Although I love Humboldt, it’s definitely not the safest place on the planet or even in the State of California. The crime section is NOT imaginary propaganda, it’s legitimate factual events that occur.

Is this going in the “promoting violence” bin, Kym?

Garberville/Redway needs a smoking ordinance were people are not allowed to smoke in front of businesses or public places unless they are actually walking down the street or in a designated smoking area. 🚭🚶🏻‍♂️🚬✌🏿

Tell the board of supervisors to make all the sidewalks (cement wheel chair ramps at every corner)and business ADA compliant.

Phony bologna… A man tried breaking in my truck as I opened the door to get out at the car wash in Redway, luckily my passenger door was locked, I immediately hoped back in & drove off, he tried to block me in & stand in my way when I left… he was definitely on some substance. I drove down the street & called the cops… THEY DID NOT CARE NOR COME & told me drive away.
