[UPDATE 9:08 a.m.] Eel River to Reach Flood Stage Today

(Check out how high the Eel River is on the Fernbridge live cam)

Screenshot of the Eel River on the Fernbridge Live cam at 8:21 a.m. (Check out how high the Eel River is as you read this on the Fernbridge live cam.)

At 7:15 this morning, the Eel River at Fernbridge pushed over 15 feet at the gauge. (Monitor stage is 14 feet.) Around noon, the river is predicted to rise over the 20 foot flood stage mark. (See graph below.)

At this point the Eel at Fernbridge is expected to crest at 24 feet near midnight.

NOAA warns of these possible issues as the river rises at Fernbridge:

20.0 Feet Significant flooding of the western portions of Cannibal Island Road, Camp Weott Road, the Salt and Old Rivers and all adjacent low-lying areas. Flooding in these areas is exaggerated when crest timing is coincident with high tides and strong onshore winds, and for longer duation events. A Special Action Advisory is being issued to all owners of livestock in low-lying areas of the Eel Delta. These animals are at risk due to rising river levels and appropriate action should be considered.
22.0 Feet The western half of the Eel Delta may be completely flooded, especially if at or above this level for an extended period of time. This include areas northwest of Loleta, Cannibal Island Road.
24.0 Feet Minor flooding of Highway 211 to Ferndale south of Fernbridge. Much of the Eel Delta may be flooded, including areas northwest of Loleta, the western portion of Cannibal Island Road. Flooding will be enhanced for longer duration events.

UPDATE 9:08 a.m.: Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services just tweeted, “New river forecast as of 8:41 a.m. indicates the Eel River at Fernbridge is expected to exceed Flood Stage of 20 feet around 2 p.m., today, February 14, cresting at under 22 feet late tonight. Highway 211 is not anticipated to close. Livestock should remain on high ground.”

That’s no surprise considering how they want to cap how many can be detained. Create a crisis, pretend a solution.

An extreme weather shelter in southern Humboldt would be nice talking to people that were huddled under a little Eve wet and cold with hardly any gear they were saying that it would be nice to have a dry place to spend the night they would definitely use it as I left the sheriff pulled up on them and probably was going to ask them to move

When you were looking at sylvandales bridge and seeing the 23-ft where did it say monitoring level and flood stage

~i hate to be so picky . . . but for the sake of communication . . . KNOW THIS – Honsal, the so-called Sheriff, from 9-4:00 DOES NOT leave the building at 825 Fifth Street in Eureka . . .w/the exception of photo-ops.

How can it drop so fast? Does it depend on the tide?
Too bad we can’t divert it first, into firefighting water tanks, ponds, reservoirs, or ?
If I were in charge of all the billions of dollars donated by force, I would be on the horn to all the water cachement people and making sure the county was good to go for next fire season.
But, I’m not.
You snooze you looze.
But we can get on the horn to the elected and wake them up.
Ringy Dingy.

~don’t waste your time. They’re incompetent on the sea of commerce. Wish they’d get on a ship and stay out there in the commerce they idolize so much, and hell bent on dragging the living down with them.
