UPDATE: With Even More Dramatic Video From the Other Side] A Little Reminder to Be Careful at the Beach

Reader Bill Pavloff says today he “almost got stuck at Centerville Beach by a slide.” He was walking along the beach when behind him a section of the hillside as big as a dumptruck load collapsed right where he had been walking. It completely covering his footsteps.

“I didn’t get the first slide [on camera],” he told us. “But did capture a secondary [slide].

He added, “As far as I know, everyone else who was on that side of the slide made it out too.”

UPDATE 10:08 a.m.: Reader Mike Jenson posted this video from the other side of the slide. It shows even more dramatically how serious these slides can be.

🕯Tell him thanks for the pic and thank goodness he’s alright. And for the warning about how dangerous some places can be.

Walking anywhere along the bluffs there is a total crap shoot. A dump truck size fall is nothing compared to what that bluff is capable of. I have seen ACRES of that bluff fall in the blink of an eye and cover the beach to the waterline for several hundred yards. If you are dull enough to walk along that area this time of year, don’t forget to whistle. The County should put a sign up that says;

“Stay The Hell Out Of This Area Fool, Unless You Are Looking To Die”.

its zep like while looking for agates and the mountains crumble to the sea. and its where the agates come from to boot. but not that hill, its not dark enough, it needs to be the goo.
