Humboldt County Law Enforcement Attend Funeral of Rookie Officer Natalie Corona Slain in the Line of Duty

Today we had the honor of representing HCSO at Officer Natalie Corona's memorial service. Officer Corona, a 22-year-old Davis police officer, was shot and killed on January 10 after responding to a car crash. Rest In Peace sister. We've got the watch from here.

Today, officers from both the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Fortuna Police Department attended the memorial for 22-year-old rookie Officer Natalie Corona who was killed in the line of duty.

The memorial for Corona was held at an indoor arena at the University of California, Davis.

According to Capital Public Radio,

“It was truly in her blood,” Davis Police Chief Darren Pytel said. “I placed a bet that one day she’d be the police chief. I know what it takes, and she had it.”

He apologized to her parents, Merced and Lupe Corona, for the shooting death of their daughter last week as she responded to a car crash.

“You delivered to us the perfect cop. Our commitment to you was to get her home,” he said. “I’m so sorry that we didn’t get her back home to you.”

On January 10, Corona responded to a traffic collision near the University but a bicyclist, not involved in the crash, rode up and fired at the young officer. He also fired at motorists. The shooter later killed himself.

After the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office posted these photos, they ended their statement with:

“Rest In Peace sister. We’ve got the watch from here.”

Yeah dan. It’s called keeping them away from criminals. Unfortunately criminals don’t care about laws, so, your taking away guns from law abiding citizens.

well now…. those types would stay away from firearms if they knew those of us who do not commit crime with them were allowed to use carry and use them. but in this state they know if you shoot them, they can use the courts to take everything else they already hadnt stolen from you.

Nearly all repressive regimes take away the means for the people to stand up for their rights. Right before the proverbial S hit the F in Venezuela, guns were taken away from the general public. It was then a slippery slope into chaos as the government failed, socialism itself failed, and the country collapsed.

However, now that the people are ready to revolt against Maduro’s government, they no longer have the means to do so. It’s suicide for unarmed people to fight the well-armed military, something that the government undoubtedly counted on when Venezuela banned guns, disarming the populace.

It’s true.

Venezuela will not be a good example for gun confiscation, or socialism, or dictators.

But most people in America, at least that I’ve heard, don’t argue for gun confiscation.

And fortunately, were not under dictatorship.

Nonetheless, the situation in Venezuela is horrible.

~none of this is a matter of politics. None of it is a matter of an actual “war”. All of it is merely garden variety Bunko and white-collar crime carried out on a vast scale by Trustees acting in Breach of Trust and conspiring together for mutual self-benefit.

Another reason California should be open carry to help out when needed or to take care of yourself. Arizona does not have a problem with it.

I’ve taken classes to carry, thank the Lord I had a wonderful instructor. There were a few ppl in the same class I was, that had no business holding an unloaded firearm. Even if you had classes, you have to have the right state of mind to actually handle and be able to use (last option when all other options have failed). If you have to pull, use. You take a life, even if it was you or them or for your family, you took a life and that will stay with you forever. Be prepared, even with training, you’ll have to deal with that. Just saying.

True that lil mama! Open carry is a HUGE deterrent though. Theives would think twice in a society of law abiding trained open gun carrying citizens.

well imho before you ever buy a firearm for self defense you should have already made up your mind about weither or not you could or would take another life. that being said the last thing that one should have to worry about running through their head while trying to control a situation in which they must fire is will i go to jail for this ? is this person going to be able to sue me ? if you dont know when ot is life or death your heartbeat increases your breathing changes and often times even police have a hard time hitting their target. that is why a selfdefense firearm should have more rnds. 10 or 15 years ago i remember there was a police shooting in ill. somewheres a wedding. the responding offers fired over 30 times hitting their target only once in the arm. most people are not nor can they be snipers, and unlike tv or movies you are normally having to shoot while moving at a moving target that might or might not be shooting back or having some other type of weapon. for most people by the time they decide to draw it is to late they allowed the target to get to close. 25 feet, if your target is within 25 feet of you, they could close that distance and disarm you before you cleared whatever you are carrying in. I dont tend to agree with statements about some people shouldnt be able to carry even if they take a class and pass all the requirments, that judgement isnt for you nor i to make.
what is pointless is all thesr assult weapons bans. assult weapons are concidered for the most part rifles. yet rifles kill the least amount of people nationally each year. infact you are more likely to die in this country from a faulty doctor than a rifle or assult weapon. pistols kill more in reguard to firearms. yet if you subtract the sucide numbers from that you will find that there are many other killers in this country that kill in far greater numbers. according to the head of the dot on average over 4k children die each year in autos.
sorry for my preaching this is about a slain woman who was doing her job a s a public servent and we should all be greatful and respectful, may she forever be in peace and may her family remember to live for her instead of dieing with her. to them , remember that she would not want you to waste your life because she isnt here to share it. And try to not feel guilty for enjoying life again once that happens , i am certain she would want you to enjoy the time you have left and remember with happiness instead of sorrow.

The law enforcement procession was impressive to see, over 15 miles long. We were in Dunnigan on an overpass, when the first lights appeared. Various people on their cell phones were saying their friends in Woodland just had the final cars pass by them.
