[ UPDATE 8:25 p.m.: Major Injury] Vehicle Off Hwy 36

Traffic Accident DayA vehicle went off Hwy 36 and over the embankment on Hwy 36 east of Carlotta between Fox Creek Road and Marie Lane around mile marker 9.75 at approximately 4:38 p.m.

The vehicle is reportedly in the river. However, the first responder on the scene reports he can see the license plate number and he said that the vehicle appears to be an old full-size Ford pickup so it isn’t currently submerged.

The female driver is out of the vehicle and has a “large laceration to her leg,” according to the scanner.

Multiple agencies are responding including an ambulance. Please drive cautiously in the area.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 8:25 p.m.: The CHP is now reporting this is a major injury accident. In addition, a reader tells us, “We weren’t sure who to call, but…we passed the wreck site about an hour ago and there was a little pit terrier at the site. We tried to get her but she was really scared. Maybe she belonged to the lady in the car? She had on a little [red and blue] dog sweater and wouldn’t leave that area. She wouldn’t come to us but maybe worth posting?”

If anyone knows the people involved, could they pass on the info about the dog?

That’s a wild ride…would estimate 75 to 100 feet straight drop. Hope that is the only injury. 36 strikes again .

I’ve Driven up on more accidents on 36 in 3 years than I have in my whole life living in the Bay Area commuting to Oakland. But it’s a race track so I understand. Stay safe everyone, if you see a Taco coming up in your rear view just pull off to keep everyone safe 😂.

Drove by this accident. The vehicle was not in the creek. They were luckily saved from the cold and wet waters of the VanDuzen Rv. by the trees on which their vehicle rested. It was down the bank approx. 25ft rolled over on its drivers side facing east on the south shoulder. Appeared to be driving east but who knows?
