A Small Striped Dear…[New Zebra Foal in Lost Coast Herd Near Petrolia]

Long delicate legs and stripes mark the newest addition to the Lost Coast zebra herd. A new foal is wandering the pastures near Petrolia off the Mattole Road.

On May 13, 2017, one of the herd, Randy, was shot with a single bullet. The shooter has not yet been located in spite of an over $5000 reward.

Then, a month later, another foal was born to Josephine, the matriarch zebra. That little foal has grown and the foal pictured above is now the fourth striped occupant of the field.

What makes you think they’re wild?

As I recall they are privately owned by the person who owns the property.

NOT the Scientologists….Randy the stallion was killed last year, this foal is a zonkey…they are tame, Randy was in a Heineken commercial. They are tame, which makes Randy’s Murder even worse!

They are not wild. They are livestock on private property.

Livestock are domesticated animals raised in an agricultural setting to produce labor and commodities such as meat, eggs, milk, fur, leather, jewellery and wool. The term is sometimes used to refer solely to those that are bred for consumption, while other times it refers only to farmed ruminants, such as cattle and goats.

Agriculture side note:
On January 6, 1936, the Supreme Court declared the Agricultural Adjustment Act unconstitutional because the AAA processing taxes were to support a system of federal regulation of agriculture, which is outside the powers the Constitution had delegated to Congress.

Events soon proved just the opposite. By May of 1937, the ‘packed’ Supreme Court began its rubber stamp approval of Prez. Roosevelt’s New Deal measures.

Headlines on the front page of the New York Times on May 25, 1937 heralded the official inauguration of the new Welfare State. “SUPREME COURT BACKS SECURITY ACT AND JOB INSURANCE.” Roosevelt now had his Supreme Court majority in favor of the New Deal.

Roosevelt’s plan to pack the court never was put into action. The same number of justices reversed their stance and shot down the challenges to FDR’s agenda.

Wow, What a surprise! HumCo’s writing essays without doing any research… Again! Check out the Wi-Fi In Old town article, where he claims firefighters don’t use radios because of the radiation they produce.

he said cell towers and you switched it to radio towers there is a differance. however in your vendetta against him you misread much of what is said.

“The reason there are no radiation antenna/towers on fire stations is because the firemen are smarter than the average bear.”

Fire houses have all kinds of “radiation antennas” on them. Since the article is about internet routers, it I think its safe to say firehouse have plenty of transmitters more powerful than that.

Good lord. Is the point to mob like a pack of hyenas? The mistake of assuming something is a fact because “everyone knows it” is certainly common enough. She said so. Continuing to attack is just viciousness for self aggrandizement.

Building is indeed a scientology fortress..what is above ground is minimal……the zebra ranch has no connection to that

They knew what they were doing when they built it. The inside if the vault is hinged plates that move with the quakes. One person that happened to be inside during one episode said it was like being in the belly of a big snake.

I don’t know if it’s built on hinged plates, but my father poured concrete for that building and he told me the walls they did were 18 inches of solid concrete. He also had to sign a non-disclosure just to work there.

Maybe the scientologists sold out, but there was a Scientologist storage vault installed near Petrolia in the late ‘80’s – 90’s. You can look it up. I think it’s still there.

The article said that the male zebra was killed and a month later the foal was born to a zebra mother. That is not a hybrid. If the foal that was born after the stud was shot was male, this years foal could have been sired by that one and thus be a pure zebra too.

Has anyone questioned the donkey regarding Randy’s murder? Randy appears to have been the only thing standing between the donkey and hot zebra action.

His not having been born yet is a pretty solid alibi for a striped suspect. That and the lack of a trigger finger.

Ok, except the baby purebred would have to be over a year to breed, the second mom was prob bred by the deceased zebra, gesturing 11 months i think, can’t remember when he was murdered.

pardon me , i know they are cute but i am suprised that there isnt outrage about this. they are not native here, have no purpose being here. just imagine if everyone that wants one brings one in…. again as i said before this is how bad things start. one person or family decides then it starts a trend and before you know it things get out of hand. if one person is allow exotic pets then all must be allowed .

Almost always. Zebras and donkeys have a different number of chromasomes, and even the fertile ones are described as “poorly fertile.”

None of these animals are native, zebras or donkeys. If left to their own devices, their limited gene pool means they will be out-competed by more genetically stable equine species in the long run.

The only real solution is to bring in a pride of lions to combat the problem. If lions aren’t available, dions (donkey/lion crosses) might be able to handle these zonkeys. Either way I’m sure it will go better than that time I swallowed a fly.
