Today, Miranda 4-H volunteered to decorate the Mateel Community Center for the annual
Christmas dinner which starts at noon on the 25th. Later, the kids went to the Garberville hospital’s Skilled Nursing Facility to sing Christmas Carols and give gifts to the residents.
The youth and their family members strung lights and hung decorations.

The kids had a great time setting up.
Then the 4-H members went to the Garberville Skilled Nursing Facility. Gifts including lap blankets created by the 4-H craft club were given to the residents. [Photo by Robert LeClair]

Great job and fun for so many. Thank you.
The “Garberville senior center” is actually the Skilled Nursing Facility at Jerold Phelps Community Hospital.

The 4H club has been there throughout the year. The Valentines were especially sweet. These kids raised money, rehearsed songs, wrapped and presented the gifts, and brought big smiles to our home. One of our residents was a music teacher, so this was very moving for her. It means so much. I am really proud of these kids and the adult team; they make our community richer. Thank you from all the residents at the Skilled Nursing Facility at Jerold Phelps.
Aww, thanks, Joe!
Thank you Joe. Miranda 4-H leaders appreciate you helping us teach the member how to be loving, active, caring members of our community. Community service is so important for youth. It improves their self esteem, mental health and college applications. And we are so happy to share some cheer with the residents at the Skilled Nursing Facility.
Great team
Humboldt pride
This is wonderful! I’m glad that my Granddaughters are in 4-H and participated in both of these activities. They’ve made me a very proud Grandma. I was in 4-H all through my youth and learned many valuable life skills. A big thank you to the 4-H leaders.
Merry Christmas to all!
