Miranda residents are being asked not to use much water this morning after a leak impacted the system. Some residents are without water.

“Miranda Community Water District is fixing a major leak south of town,” said Kathy Eldridge, Water District Board Member. “It is a 6 inch main line that broke…The town needs to please conserve water.”

“If you need water please go to the Miranda Market and pick up a gallon or two of water,” she said. Then, she said to give your name to the store. “Just until leak is fixed,” she said.

Eldridge will keep us updated and we’ll post the latest information here.

UPDATE 4:15 p.m.: Kathy Eldridge said, “They are still working on it. Wahlan construction is helping. I guess Whispering Pines water is off too. Not related to our break [though].”

UPDATE 6:27 p.m.: Huzzah! Eldridge tells us that “the leak is now fixed and water is back on.”

“Give your name to the store -?” Will Mr. Drucker pass it on to the alderman so the town fellows of Petticoat Junction can get back to you in six months (Pony Express willing).

Whispering pines has issues of its own. I lived there for a couple years and Brian was fixing the same leak in the road several times a year. The property management and/or landlord does not want to fix it the right way. They want to keep patching the same leak, which is in the driveway and not even buried a foot deep. They will always have water leaks that affect everyone connected to that line. I believe Miranda has 4 mains.
