Ryan (Ry) Daniel Brumback: ‘You Couldn’t Help But Love Him’

This section includes both obituaries and memories. Honoring our loved ones who have died does not end immediately after their passing. We recognize that… so we’re extending our obituary section to include individuals who may have left a long time ago. If you want to remember someone who is gone, either recently or longer ago, please send a photo and a few sentences to [email protected].

Ryan (Ry) Daniel Brumback

Ryan (Ry) Daniel Brumback

We are deeply saddened to inform every one of our beloved Ry’s passing on Dec. 2nd, 2018, at home of a Heart Attack. He was 42 years old, born in San Rafael, Marin County on May 30th, 1976. He lived in Lake County, Colorado Springs, but most of his life in Southern Humboldt.

He worked at several places in Garberville growing up, The Cadillac Wok, Nacho Mama’s, Porter Street BBQ. He met his wife (Jo) in 2004 at Redway Feed and then they moved to Root 101 Nursery in Rio Dell then moved to the new Garberville location together. They worked together for 14 years and were married for 11 years.

His sense of humor was captivating and you couldn’t help but love him. Ry definitely knew how to make all of us smile and laugh. He touched a lot of people and changed their lives with help and kindness. If you needed something, he never said no.

He loved to go shooting, play darts, collecting knives and baseball cards, going to the beach, and watching UFC. His favorite vacation was his honeymoon in Ixtapa, Mexico. He was a fantastic cook and loved to play all sorts of games from Dice to You sunk my battleship, and if there was a wager it made even better.

His favorite quote:
“Every man’s heart one day beats its last beat; his lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others, and makes them bleed deeper, than something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did forever.”
Ultimate Warrior

Ry’s is preceded in death by his Father Steven, Grandmother Lois, Cousin Weston and Stepbrother Wes. He is survived by his loving wife Jo, he was the loving son of Jackie, Stepson Joseph, Aunt Jill, Aunt Carol, Sister-in-law Sue, Brother-in-law Rick, ½ brother Jake, ½ sister Hollyann, Stepbrother Doug, Stepmother Chris and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ry’s Celebration of Life will be January 12 th , 2019 at 4pm at The Mateel Community Center in Redway. Food and Pie will be served with Beer, Wine and all sorts of games will be played.

My heart goes out to his widow
It is a forever journey if grief
May she have family and friends who understand and comfort her the rest of her life
May she be able to speak of him anytime she wishes
May she get grief support and be helped through this.
One never gets over the death of ones loved one, one carries them with them…. forever
