Fire in the Hills by Blue Lake

Vegetation Fire feature iconMultiple crews have been responding to a vegetation fire in the hills near 3534 Blue Lake Boulevard since around 6:52 a.m., according to scanner traffic.

The initial response has been supplemented by several additional pieces of equipment.

But the rain is expected soon too. This is pretty early for a vegetation fire.

Saw the fire from the Mad River bridge in Blue Lake about 7am and the hillside was really glowing. Hopefully they can contain the fire with the winds coming up. I didn’t hear many sirens.

This picture is from Greenwood Aven, Blue Lake. Blue Lake, Fieldbrook and Arcata are on it. Most of the flames are down.

I lived on Greenwood Ave for a LOT of years!!! I grew up between the Catholic Church & the Fire Dept, MANY years ago!!! Just down the sterret from the school, which I graduated from!!!
