‘Truckers Christmas Parade a Great Success,’ Says KEKA
This is a press release from KEKA:
This year’s KEKA Truckers Christmas Parade was a great success and tens of thousands of folks crowded the streets of Eureka for the annual event.
“This was an interesting event this year” said Coordinator Dale Bridges. Bridges, and his team of volunteers from many local governmental agencies, community groups and the general public had the event working as smooth as ever. “It was great that the parade had over 80 floats spectacularly light up,” Bridges shared.
Again this year, the entrants were judged in two categories (under 40-foot and over 40-foot). Those selected as the first place and second place winners received checks and plaques. This year’s winners were:
1st Place, Large Float Sanders Roofing / Boy Scouts of America – Troop 54
2nd Place, Large Float Humboldt County Public Works Santa and Reindeer
1st Place, Small Float Darrell Baker Trucking and the Toys for Tots float
2nd Place, Small Float Dan Byrd Painting Fire Truck
The sponsors of this year’s KEKA Christmas Truckers Parade were Green Diamond Resource Company, Schmidbauer Lumber, North Coast Dance, The Arkley Center for the Performing Arts and Humboldt Waste Management Authority. And once more this year, Don’s Rental has donated the charges for the generators used on the floats for this year’s event to the recognized non-profit: Redwood Adult and Teen Challenge.
For additional information, call Dale Bridges at 499 – 0789. Proceeds of the event will be presented to Redwood Adult and Teen Challenge.

It was a good event. Fortuna tries but they need better planning.
80 logging trucks, in the 21st century. –Whatever you do, don’t plant hemp.
Hwy 36 is a 24/7/365 parade. I see it every day. Dressing them up with lights doesn’t change what they are.
Lipstick on a pig . . .
Can’t wait for the next rodeo.
Wow. bah humbug. You need a hug or something. Your missing the point of the parade. Seeing the smiles on kids faces is worth the price.
~sorry. I don’t mean to take Any joy from youngsters. True enough, giggles and smiles on little ones are priceless.
Bunch of emergency vehicles honking horns and blaring sirens, serenading the gathered masses with monotone Jingle Bells… dah dah dah, dah dah dah, dah dah dah dah dah.
Im with you eyeball kid.
The sirens and super bright flashing lights on the emergency vehicles are annoying and have no business in the truckers parade
Some of the kids think it’s wonderful. We have so few events where families can have a good time for no money and so much of the community gets a great sense of satisfaction from participating. We all can put up with the noise, exhaust fumes and crowds for a couple of hours- without complaining- for a couple of hours once a year. I mean we really can manage that much.
Sounds like everyone had a great time and the floats-trucks were spectacular. I hope there are videos on YT to view.
