Fortuna School Sends 173 Christmas Gift Boxes to Children in Poverty Around the World
New Life Christian School set a goal at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year to give more than 100 Operation Christmas Child boxes as their Fall Service Project. The Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects shoebox gifts—filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items—and delivers them to children in need around the world. For many of these children, the gift-filled shoebox is the first and only gift they have or will ever receive.
Students were divided into teams and had a competition to see which team could bring in the most items for the boxes. After all the items were collected in plastic tubs that were stacked according to teams, they had a packing party and packed 173 boxes! The cost to ship the boxes is $9 for each box so the students also raised $1,557 and were able to ship every box!
