[UPDATE 3 p.m.] Roads Across the Emerald Counties: What You Need to Know
Meanwhile, if you must travel remember the roads are slick and water will have ponded in areas. Rock slides have been reported in multiple areas and an occasional tree has been reported across roads. There is a flash flood warning for areas where the Mendocino Complex wildfires burned this year.
Major Highways–Here’s What We Know:
Please keep in mind this is the Friday of a long holiday weekend and it is difficult to get accurate information. If you are traveling and could take a photo of conditions and send it to us at [email protected], that would help other people make decisions about whether they should travel or not.
At this time, all major roadways are open in Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity Counties.

- Hwy 1: Open
- Hwy 3: Open
- Hwy 20: Open
- Hwy 36: Open
- Hwy 96: Open
- Hwy 101:Open with a few minor rockslides so drive cautiously
- Traffic accident near Spyrock Road in Mendocino County. No injuries but the northbound lane is blocked at 2:40 p.m.
- HWY 162: Open
- Hwy 169: Open
- Hwy 199: Open. (See Caltrans Traffic Cam)
- Hwy 211: Open (Check out the Fernbridge live cam)
- Hwy 254 (Avenue of the Giants): Open
- Hwy 255: Open
- Hwy 271: Open
- Hwy 299: Open but has several minor rock slides. See traffic cam for the latest weather. (See Quickmap for more information)
Humboldt County Roads:
Here is what we know so far:
- Pine Hill Road is experiencing flooding at Elk River Road. According to the CHP Traffic Information Page, Low profile vehicles cannot travel it.
- Shelter Cove area: Beach Road at Telegraph Road had a tree down earlier. Crews were clearing it and it may now be open.

Umm I just drove 299 from burney to Arcata, the road was flawless, not sure where you get your info bro..

Burnt ranch was bad with rockslides and big bar area.
Mendo county is getting heavy-duty rains, beginning just south of the Grove.
HumCo is getting piddly-diddly scattered drops. Specifically, Carlotta.
