Home Invasion Armed Robbery Honeydew

On Nov. 21, 2018, at about 6:51 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a report of a home invasion armed robbery that had just occurred at a residence on Wilder Ridge Road in Honeydew.

According to the male victim, three men entered the victim’s bedroom, one of which was in possession of a firearm. The suspects forced him out of bed and onto the floor, then zip tied the victim’s hands. The suspects demanded money and other items from the victim.

The suspects then physically assaulted the victim, prior to fleeing the residence. The suspects stole over $6,000 worth of property from the residence, in addition to two vehicles. The suspects are believed to have used one vehicle to ram open a locked gate on the property in order to flee. One of the stolen vehicles was found disabled approximately one and a half miles south of the residence.

The second vehicle, a red 2005 Toyota Tacoma extended cab truck, California license plate number 7U89877, is still outstanding.

One suspect is described as a white male adult, with a graying beard, wearing a blonde wig, aviator sunglasses, tan steel-toed work boots, blue jeans and a blue and gray plaid button-up shirt.

Two other males and one female are believed to be associated with the suspect. The victim was unable to provide a description of the additional suspects.

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539.

Nothing has changed and no one ever hears about the failed home invasion attempts to steal a hard earned harvest.

With cannabis as a major component of the region’s economy for decades now, I suppose that could be the (surprise!) guess. And . . . . . . . .? What? Still titillating for you at this late date? Like brothels in Nevada?

Maybe someone spent the summer in a beautiful place farming, caring and harvesting, working only to have it ripped off and his/her life threatened. Imagine the family who managed to hang on through the government efforts to destroy the “little guy”, the mom & pop’s, even though they said they wouldn’t.

Now guess that these folks are human beings just like you. Guess how they feel.

I wonder how many of these robberies end up with the robbers the guests of honor at a clandestine burial out on lumber co property?

I would’ve needed to have a semi auto under my sheets with me so, waking someone up out of sleep probably will work on most anyone.

I so badly want to find these people and prevent future incidents. It was very obvious to,me that they’ve done this before and clearly have seen all the same movies that ive seen.

I couldn’t imagine living without a dog. My dogs would never allow a stranger to get near my home. I luv my dogs🐶

Where does it say they had dogs? Not everybody has dogs. The report does offer the possibility of an “inside” job, dogs or not. The old routine of trimmers returning to rip off employers comes to mind. We just don’t know.

Dogs don’t bark at people they know. It’s ALWAYS an inside job. People don’t just ripoff random houses in the hills. Too risky. They already knew the layout

You’re clueless. Dogs bleed too silly, and three guns against dogs isn’t a match, sorry.
Im thankful that my dog was polite because that’s why I,still have my best friend with me today.

Expect many more of these. We welcomed many people of questionable values for the greenrush of the last two decades. Then we welcomed the “legalization” which has destroyed the local economy. Simple cause and effect. Expect many more ripoffs and worse as we take years to recover from the social mess we created. Brace yourselves!

Im the survivor in this article. There are several bits of misinformation that I ought to clear up since there’s a bunch of people making assumptions.

Im not a pot grower, although there are several fallow greenhouses on the property that had been used in prior seasons.
The morning before this incident, for the first time ever, random people showed up at my door, a white guy covered in scabs and a white woman, asking for diesel. I gave them a can, they brought it back from the road and went on their way.
The following morning(yesterday) I awoke to a mans voice saying “alright mother effer you know what to do” and saw three men entering my bedroom, all of them wearing bandanas, sunglasses and all three were armed.
I was butt naked, they pulled the blankets, pulled me up, pistol whipped me to the floor next to my bed, stomped on my head and shoulder, zip tied my hands behind my back, and proceeded to interrogate me, searching all around, finding the money that ive been saving from carpentry and other odd jobs and telling me Im lying, put a knife in my mouth while a gun pinned my head to the floor and said”were gonna give you a California smile! Your lying!”.
I told them everything I could in order to get them gone.
They found a small amount of cannabis that is actually for medicinal purposes, various musical instruments, brand new chainsaw, my radio from the fire dept, cell phone, computer, and my truck that I love and a car I really like too.
I have a dog, she’s old and wise and probably would be dead if she attacked them. I would be dead too or at least injured much more severely had I not cooperated.

Its normal to speculate when you hear just part of a story. A lot of people think and say things like ” if that was me i would’ve….” and I think, “screw you”.

That is a terrible thing that happened to you, brother. My heart goes out to you. I’m guessing (sorry) that there are random stupid thieves. Maybe they knew of your place from back when it was a grow, or saw greenhouses from an old Google Earth image or hit the wrong spot entirely. Maybe your place is closer to the main road so more easily accessible? Nothing makes it right or acceptable. We are all just trying to figure out patterns for our own safety… I’m glad you’re okay and so is your dog. If I knew how I’d pass you my extra guitar and maybe my backup chainsaw. Stay warm and dry and healthy. I hope we catch up to these violent thieves so nobody else has to go through that.
