Two Explosions Precede Early Morning Vehicle Fire, According to Nearby Resident

Two explosions preceded a vehicle fire on Hatchery Road south of Blue Lake this morning, according to a nearby resident who also reported seeing a “gas can in [the] roadway” and a large column of smoke.

Scanner traffic also indicated there was at least one gas can in the road.

According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page, the first report came in about 4:50 a.m. The CHP page later indicated that the vehicle was a Ford F250 that had been “completely burned” but was in a pullout and not impeding traffic.

Blue Lake Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
