Garberville Veterans Hosting Annual Thanksgiving Community Celebration
This is a press release from Garberville Chiropractic:
It’s been more than three decades that the Annual Thanksgiving Community Celebration has been produced and presented by the Garberville Veterans. WOW!
This year we’re continuing the tradition with the traditional Thanksgiving meal being served from noon to 4pm at the Mateel Community Center on Thursday, November 22nd. All are invited to share in the festivities. Do not stay at home feeling alone, ignored or deserted, know that people do care about you.
We also deliver meals by auto to those folks who cannot get out to share in the celebration. Please contact Meals-On-Wheels at the Healy Senior Center to insure that your name and address is on the list so that you won’t even have to do dishes.
Members from the business community and various angels from our neighborhoods typically share in the financial support for this endeavor. But, checks or money orders can still be mailed to the Turkey Fund c/o GVA at Box 133 Garberville 95542 or, dropped off at the Credit Union Veterans Turkey Fund account # 1837 or hand delivered only to Amie McClellan or to Dr. Brian Ormond (his office is across from the post office Mon Tu Wed Fri. 10a-6p).
We highly encourage those who want to help Chefs in the preparation of the meal to arrive at 10 AM on the 21st, and/or on Thanksgiving Day prepared to work. Please bring your favorite apron and sharp knife if possible.
Other volunteers are needed to help with various setup tasks including table setting and decorating also, on Wednesday, November 21st.
On Thanksgiving Day we’ll need people to help serve the meal, play music, eat food, and to know why they are thankful and grateful. We’ll also need several people throughout the day to help tidy up, and return the building to its normal spick and span condition at the end of the day.
