Drug Task Force Intercepts Nearly 2 Pounds of Heroin and $32,000 in Eureka
This is a press release from the Humboldt County Drug Task Force. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On November 13, 2018, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Special Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of a narcotic detection K9 from the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office, served a search warrant at a motel located in the 4000 block of Broadway, Eureka. Agents previously received information that Jaime Laveaga-Nava (age 29 from Sinaloa, Mexico) is a member of a Drug Trafficking Organization who is currently distributing heroin throughout Humboldt County.
Agents contacted Laveaga-Nava at his motel room and detained him without incident. Agents searched Laveaga-Nava’s room and located nearly two pounds of heroin packaged for sales, digital scales, and other packaging material. Agents also located approximately $32,000 in U.S. currency that is believed to be the proceeds of illegal narcotics sales. This currency will be held pending asset forfeiture proceedings.
Laveaga-Nava was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for possession and transportation of a controlled substances.
Anyone with information related to this investigation or other narcotics related crimes are encouraged to call the Humboldt County Drug Task Force at 707-444-8095 or the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 707-268-2539.

I didn’t realize heroin users had 100 dollar bills to spend….
And lots of them.
Probably not the street level users connect.
He’s not a user.. “per se”
But rather a distributor. Read the article…
An old buddy of mine once said, “ if you don’t have a 100 bill to snort blow with, you shouldn’t be snort’n blow!”
That’s silly , everyone knows you use a straw
I suppose he’ll be out on bail and gone. At least until next time.
I’ve seen that piece of,,,,,,t in Fortuna before and before anyone says it I know theres alot of that poison here.
it is odd how much heroin is in loleta/fortuna
More gifts from the “open borders” cabal.
Well maybe that’s one of those famous jobs thatvAmericans don’t want to do. (Yes that is sarcasm, just in case someone misses it in favor of being outraged.)
Divide by Zero what do you mean by “open borders”?
Do you understand that this shit comes right through the border crossing check points at San Diego TJ. Tens of thousands of vehicles every day cross back and forth every day. And BTW that’s also how 99% of illegal aliens get in this country right under the noses of border polices at ALL the controlled border crossing along the US- Mexico border. Some even cross from Canada, is why Trump’s wall is a joke and will never be built.
If they shut All the borders down, now more coming to the USA at all, They’d still find a way to get drugs and illegals in .
The same reasons the wall is a joke are reasons that sanctuary is a joke.
are you an idiot? what makes you think that people with lots of money can’t be drug addicts? I’d bet you’d be really surprised how many addicts are quasi-functional members of society. people with families, jobs..even careers. not to say they make up the majority, but seriously. I’d bet many growers up and down California are some of their best customers also. on top of that drugs are expensive. most drug addicts spend most of their time looking for money to buy said drugs. would make sense that a portion of them hold steady jobs to support their unfortunate habit/disease
Yeah you know heroin and Wall Street go hand in hand. Nodding off really helps with being successful in a career.
Most heroin users started out as perception opioid adicts who were given prescriptions from doctors who were dealers for the BIG Pharma corporations run by Republican CEOs.
To throw a political agenda in there makes every thing you said irrelevant, even if it is true.
Fake news, right? Pffffft
It is true
I was told the comment section was not a place to find the truth.
There is plenty of truth. But figuring out what the truth is takes perspicacity. That includes not believing everything you think.
You should do a little more investigation. The OxyContin became legal under Bill Clinton’s admin.
There are two types of heroin junkies…the type that tries it, likes it, and spends the rest of their life trying to scrounge up enough money for the next hit; and the type that tries it, likes it, and realizes, if they’re going to be able to enjoy it, they’d better get crackin’ and figure out a way to pay for it.
These are the ones that become some of the most successful members of the community: doctors, lawyers, business owners. You’d be surprised to know who the heroin junkies are.
Where’s The Brother from Another Planet when you need him? (SPOILER ALERT: He’d inject Jaime Laveaga-Nava with his own product and then track down the Sinaloa cartel bosses…)
He’s smiling in his mug shot.
Is that the 7th Mexican national up here busted for that poison this year?
Can law enforcement here contact Mexico regarding the criminal history of the suspect in their country. Does fingerprinting carry into different countries even if theirs is a 3rd world country, probably not.
Throw away the jail door key.
Just came over the border for a better life. Sanctuary Now!!
Really? you think that guy had anything to do with sanctuary state?
I will notify ICE
I see what you’re trying to do here:
ICE = death like meth
He is out on a O/R and on his way back to sinaloa .Probably already there .Said now bail amount ?
Thirty-two grand. In cash. I’ve been slaving away for nearly ten years at the Salvation Army’s donations call center, and I’ve got a couple grand saved up, with the promise of a ten grand cash-out early next year, along with about another grand from unused vacation time. Somebody please tell me, why do I feel like a sucker?
John,
You’re not a sucker. You work hard and have an honest job that helps people. He’s preying off the weak and addicted to make a buck, and probably threatens folks along the way. Nice guy. I guess if we are a sanctuary state we get to house and feed him for a few years before they deport him? Can’t he be turned over for federal prosecution? Let the feds pay for the joy.
Yep that is Trump’s America. The Republican millionaires (People making over $1,000,000 a YEAR!!!!) Got a tax break much bigger than a little old $32,000. And you slave away for what? $15.00 an hour. Trump is laughing at you all the way to the bank.
Democrats and Republicans have both been in power while the wealth gap grew. While the soothing words they offer appeals to their gullible constituents who like to target others, the same rich get richer and the same poor get poorer. But neither group of politicians act much differently in details.
Frankly the only time the “wealth gap” closed was when labor was scarce so that a person’s own work could provide wealth in excess of living costs. And Trump’s agenda of putting American worker’s first was a shot at returning some of that power to the average person. Not that either socialists or capitalists will let that happen. They are both pleased with the level of power they corral by frustrating everyone else’s chances.
He is already out on or and on his way back to Sinaloa probably already there never to return, but you got the dope and the money ,so that’s all good. Bravo to the drug task force you guys rule
Not a coincidence they call smack “dope”.
Firing squad !
Sinaloa is beautiful and poor.head tilted back, proudest of nationals are from my state.thorny trees flower and feed iguanas that are the best ,vegetarian lizards ,I’ve hunted and ate for years.people fed me,for years in my youth,me from rich California .they gave me buds for $20 a kg to make 20 gm oil per. They started goma, opium gum production for whore houses in San Francisco since after civil war, when amputations were done without analgesics with carpenter saws.usually resulting in slow death as we fought over slavery.mexico never send soldiers overseas.if he ever goes back his cargo was informally insured.his quick return paid for because of his productivity that afforded him a nice truck with his family, and maybe ,a tractor, to grow more corn.the work,on the sandy plains near coast includes dept slavery and concentration camp, wire and guards.no neighbor could ever afford shoes or extra pants.gum was $7,000/ kg ,now $265 near Acapulco.i was always allowed to carry concealed weapons,my neighbors admired me.no with legalization of pot soon kidnapping will be the only option.i you would only listen, you’d give him ketamin,in secret, and milk him for info.but who cares ,I haven’t even decided witch side I’m on.same with the arsonists, katrachos?, milk them for info, find out why and if they really are trying to kill everyone.go for if.estupit people.
I’m sure he is registered to vote for the right party wink, wink. Probably didn’t even have to change counties when they let him out.
How do we make sure his rights are not violated, ICE is not contacted and he doesn’t get deported? No way can we let this man go back to Mexico. Why would we do that? He is a member of a drug trafficking organization and we can not let him go back and be a part of that. He should only be held accountable for the crimes and not the fact he is a Mexican national, breaking laws and selling, for profit, heroin, which is debilitating our communities. Keep him here so we can pay all the expenses incurred while he’s incarcerated. He’s human, have compassion for why he left Mexico in the first place. He must have been living a terrible life and needed to flee so he can work for minimum wage and send back the little money he earns to help his poor family that is still stuck in Mexico. Lets give this man a fighting chance at being a citizen of the United States. Lets start a Go Fund Me page to help with his expenses. This man needs our love, compassion and support. Come on Humboldt, we can do this!
Great Job HCSO!!
The entire community stands behind you in these heroin busts!! Humboldt and Mendocino Communities; KEEP PUTTING THE PRESSURE ON THE SHERIFF DEPARTMENTS TO “CLEAN UP THE HEROIN DEALERS IN THE SMALL MOTELS FROM SANTA ROSA TO PELICAN BAY” : For those who dont know; there is a Heroin Ring and epidemic in every community based out of these small motels, From Santa Rosa to Eureka every town has these Heroin dealers selling heroin to the transient heroin population, our teens and communities. These gangs will put a runner in every motel who just deals the product then send up “shipment loads” to disteibute to these dealers which are easily distributed from these cheap prostitite and heroin infested motels- Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Lake County, Hopland, Ukiah, Willits, Laytonville, Garberville, Redway, Fortuna, Eureka, all these towns have the same problem; heroin and black tar heroin dealers are taking over; less money to be made in cannabis by these cartels so they are now switching back to meth, cocaine and heroin sales. Time for the Sheriff Department to work their way up the organization, dont worry; there is plenty of assett forfeiture for your departments, plenty money to “scoop up” with cannabis enforcement waning, the most ethical thing to do to fund your department is to go after these mexican gangs like the Nortenos from up North, the Surenos in Humboldt are well dug in with their Blue Converse Chucks and Blue jeans mostly from San Diego. Clean up this epidemic and protect our communities; Bars are “open meth sale” events; fill the local bars on Friday and Saturday nights with undercovers and vice. There is open hard drug dealing in the bars in Ukiah, Willits, Laytonville and Garberville. Time to do something!! Clean up these transient cartel drug organizations asap.
Well said. Heroine is awful evil stuff. Kids here say it’s easier to get and cheaper than meth, or coke, even sometimes buds in Del Norte. At least that money isn’t going back to the cartel it’s staying here. Almost our annual income!
Oh, and as a working class family at around $40,000.00 a year the child tax credit and not having to pay the fine for not being able to afford insurance this year we may actually break even come tax time. Our son at 17, even tho he is still in highschool doesn’t count as a child, only a dependent. Our income makes him ineligible for many financial aid options and as we looked at scholarships he only qualifies for around 2 out of 10 scholarships because of his gender and ethnicity, but we will put him through college. He will be paying taxes like his parents for his lifetime. Trumps tax changes actually helped us and we are not wealthy. Even tho I’m more conservative I appriciate the things President Obama did for our country that were good. I wish people were less hateful and more willing to see good in others and appriciate some of the differences and ideas rather than attack individuals and motivations.
