Is that right by the bridge?

Traffic into Ferndale is being directed through Waddington and the Grizzly Bluff. But there’s bridge construction going that way. Major delays right now. Best to avoid going to town until the crash is cleaned up, if you can help it. Going out of town is ok, being diverted around to Substation Road.

I hate to say it but it looks almost like a race gone bad, road rage or distraction by phone?

I’d say the west bound vehicle tried a left turn and hit the Porsche. Then the left turning vehicle got pushed back into the vehicle behind it. Just a guess though.

Southpaw, since you’re “just guessing”
why don’t you keep your opinions to yourself!
FACT: The Nissan was STOPPED making a LEFT turn when REAR ENDED by the ELantra and forced into the Oncoming (East Bound) Porsche.

Way to “state the facts” after the report comes out, [edit].
Sorry if it OFFENDS YOU when people are curious and try to find out what happens, by looking at the PICTURES on the page.
See the word “COMMENT” above the box you type in?

I was on scene! So again there you are assuming out loud;
You’re a troll with nothing better to do with your damn time!
Get a life South Paw!
The fact that everyone walked away from this horrific scene with only minor injuries is nothing short of a miracle.

Justme:
Troll, huh? You are on this site making derogatory comments a whole lot more than most.
My first comments on the story were helpful and informative. What were yours? Hurtful and an effort to try to stop someone from bringing attention to a dangerous intersection. Some of us who live around there, who know how bad that intersection is, who know how many accidents that have happened there over they years, we have a heck of a lot more skin in the game than you and your nasty attitude. We have to live with that intersection every day.
I don’t give a damn if you were on scene, you think you’re the only one who can talk about it? You don’t think any of the people involved could be someone we know? You don’t think talking about the different ways accidents can occur in that intersection is useful? You don’t think any of this would hopefully get more people to pay more attention at that intersection or the Coffee Creek intersection? Who’s assuming now?
The only thing I agree with is that it was a miracle that everyone walked away from this. We can all be thankful for that.

Justme, here’s what you could have said in your first comment:
“That’s not what happened. I was on scene. …………”

And you know what my reply would probably have been?
“I stand corrected.”

You obviously have a chip on your shoulders, but should sort out your issues offline, for everybody’s benefit.

Do you hate to say it or do you just love needlessly speculating about people’s lives? That’s like saying no offense, but…Then saying something offensive. Speculating instead of waiting for a report is a lousy pastime.

Not really, when the speculation junkies on this site go off on their daily troll game, a lot of locals know the truth of many of the situations reported on. The outrageous assumptions that thes trolls put forth stretch even the most fertile imaginations. Sometimes they need to be pulled up short.

Who decides? You? Me? Speculation can and has lead to people who know providing further information. And people who are close to the story sometimes are outraged at what is in the end the truth. People who like to speculate can be addressed case by case. If it is important, which 99% of the time it is not.

I just don’t like people who try to bully others into silence , even if I don’t agree with the others. Especial those who are supercilious about it.

For you and your friend above. I drive a Cadillac sits sporty type car. That Porsche has tried to race 4 times at that same spot. 5 others times twice in my car and three times in friends cars it just about hit us because they were on a cellphone so yeh I came to that conclusion.

The Porsche did what it is supposed to do… protect the occupants in a crash. Had it been more “resilient,” there may have been a different outcome regarding the 2 occupant’s lives.

Actually the design of the Porsche helped those in the vehicle avoid more serious injuries. German steel is BIG and HEAVY unlike flimsy Toyotas! Who cares that it was a Nissan in the article: Toyotas and hippies are NOT to be trusted. Yeah, right!

If you’re coming from fernbridge to Waddington road take the turnoff with the turn lane most people don’t anymore. Because of the crappie dairy with cow poop and tractors in the way.

And called “Substation Road”. A lot safer way to get on to Waddington Road than the one where the accident happened.

So in an unrelated item Jack Norton Elementry kids were put on lockdown because of a gun threat. Parents were not notified of the situation and it seems to be swept under the rug. The principal is giving vague answers and one parent stated on Facebook that they tried to get his daughter to get on the bus with the child makings threats. We are tired of things like this happening up here and it not being reported on. This is the third incident hidden, lies about and swept under the rug. I didn’t know how to contact you personally kim so I wrote it here. I personally would appreciate you looking into the matter and bringing the facts out. These are our children after all.

This has been a really bad area for accidents. Goble lane is kind of on a blind corner no where to go if someone is turning onto Goble and you are not paying attention. I’m not saying in this accident the car was not paying attention im just saying its a bad spot on 211.

Google maps shows that Goble and 211 are very visible when coming from east or west on 211. The Elantra driver was completely responsible for the collision of the other two cars. There is no excuse for rear-ending someone – even if you lose your breaks – there is a way out if you know how to drive correctly. I hope they get the crap sued out of them and the DMV restricts their privilege to drive.

tqm, i agree. Every time i’m out driving, especially now that i read the local news here, i am paranoid almost constantly about careless, reckless, or unconscious drivers. When those drivers do cause an accident, they should face consequences beyond damage to their own vehicles or selves–something to say, We say NO! You canNOT drive that way! Not that i don’t sympathize with the trauma experienced, no doubt, by all involved here.
I don’t know if this is true anymore, but when learning to drive, i was taught that any rear-ending is always legally the fault of the driver behind. No matter why the first driver slams on his brakes, or sits innocently waiting to make a left-hand turn, the driver behind is supposed to be both far enough back, and alert enough, to adjust for the lead driver’s actions. If not–any collision is his/her responsibility.

Crooks sometimes take advantage of that assumption by loading a vehicle up with people, pulling in front of someone and simultaneously hitting the brakes so that a collision is unavoidable. Then everyone in the vehicle sues for injuries.

Don’t put your faith in Google Maps.

And 211 runs North/South, not East/West

Crossing over fernbridge is almost perfectly north/south. Where this accident happened is north/ south.

What map you using?

Google Maps ain’t everything. I used to live on the corner there. Visibility there is not what it appears to be on Google, and there are many accidents.

That said, every driver is supposed to be aware of what’s going on around them, and be able to stop in time should they come upon anything in the road ahead of them, such as a car making a left turn.

A car being shoved into your lane after being rear-ended by another car is unavoidable, so even if the Porsche driver is an inconsiderate, cell-phone-talking, race-car-driving asshole, it’s not his fault.

I understand what you’re saying. Although the turn off isn’t very noticeable. Most people aren’t expecting someone to be at a dead stop on the highway. And yes, they obviously weren’t paying attention.

Most people don’t expect a deer in the road either. Poor excuse

But, Caltrans should be responsible for a safe turning Lane on a highway.

And the Sage/CoffeeCreek intersection, just a little bit further towards Ferndale, is bad too. No Left Turn Lane.
