Hopefully he’ll be sitting by the fire with some hot cocoa tonight, spreading the word about just how cold that water really is.
I really hope you aren’t saying this as a joke, because that’s my fucking brother they are looking for.
Kiara please contact me please ask KJ to check his Instagram for my number. I am devastated. I love him so much.
It was a way of saying that they hope he was saved. That he was telling the story about what a bad thing it could have been because he was rescued.
Hey idk if you remember me but me and my sister used to go to the pool with you and your brothers as soon as i heard about this I started to cry! I really hope they find him please tell us if you guys hear anything from him
I’m sorry what a mentally. Are you serious? That’s my beloved cousin. You haven’t heard any indication that he had been found so what possessed you to utter such an inappropriate comment.
Hope he’s ok. This is heartbreaking.
3rd and 5th videos contain additional information. The others are just helicopters or boats.
Is the barrier still up across the end of the jetty warning people off? I couldn’t see it in the videos. Not that it stopped people from going out even with small children.
Depending on the time of the incoming tide if he went under he mostly likely was drawn into the bay. High tide was around 5:30pm so low tide would have been around 11am this morning. Water is coming into the Bay beginning around noon. That would mean his body should be found inside the Bay. Since he wasn’t near the South Jetty he could be found around the Coast Guard Station. And sadly if he sunk the bay critters will do their thing.
In hindsight the North Jetty has always been dangerous. Students have been known to play dodge the waves running out to the end of the jetty. Waves breaking over the rock and concrete barrier are strong enough to knock over a NFL lineman. There was a slight North wind around 11am this morning and North winds to the North West were at 14 mph which at high tide would bring more water into the Bay. The body could be carried farther into the bay. What a sad day for his parents…………………..
It’s a sad day that your user name implies the student was ‘stupid’. If you are concerned for his parents emotions, that can’t help. Just sayin’……
FYI – High tide (7.1 feet) was st 3:19 p.m. today so with a low, minus, tide (- .7) at 10:38 p.m. tonight. The tide was starting to go out.
Im not much of a fisherman but ive seen the current and he would’ve ended up in the bay i think..
They’re still flying up the peninsula, I hope they find him alive.🙏🙏
Wait until KIEM Channel 3 airs the story. They will make it the STUPID KIEM question of the evening. “Do you believe the student drowned?”

“Rescue” implies that that the student was recued. Apparently that is inaccurate. “Search” would have been more accurate. Good luck.
I said a prayer to any higher power there may be. I hope that he is found safe. I am thinking of all his family and friends.
So sad.
We really need HSU to provide new students with information about how dangerous many of our ocean areas are, fishing on the jetty is not like fishing the jetties in so cal. Our ocean entrance is friggin intense!!
The locals put up a really good really large sign on the trail down to black sands beach. The jetty both north and south could use a similar one. I know more people whove gotten hurt there than any other spot, either on the rocks or in the water.
I notice he’s from LA. When i fist moved from San Clemente decades ago, i was used to fishing from the pier after surfing or if it was just the doldrums. I found out very quickly that the jettys here are NOTHING like all the friendly elevated public fishing piers that dot the so-cal coastline. And the water here is not even distantly related to anything from about Jalama on down to the tip of baja. And yeah people told me and im pretty sure there were signs warning me away. But being a young and invincible waterman… well…
Eddie would go!
Bad call. I was blessed,… BLESSED to make it home soaking wet and hypothermic with bloddied, torn, ripped and bruised clothes, elbows, palms, knees…
Ive grown to respect the ocean here and even enjoy it occasionally but dont trust it. Even many years later having surfed the jetty for years the ocean up here still creeps me out a little bit… theres just something spooky about the water north of SLO
To summarize… if you’re not from here and you’re not Laird Hamilton. Listen to the locals and do like Operation Ivy..
Take Warning!
BOOM!
(Drops mic)
PSA walkoff..
One more thing.. a buddy of mine from down south put it like this after taking a particularly wicked double hold down at the north jetty…
How do you know when youre done dancing with a Gorilla?…
When the Gorillas done dancing…
Hit it right on the head
My prayers go out to his family and friends … May you be blessed with a miracle … I wish there where signs on the jetty its self not only warning people of how dangerous the jetty can be but also why too many think I could just swim back if I get washed out but hypothermia sets in so fast it’s not likly unless you are wearing a wet suit best scenario you get ahold of a rock … More info may help prevent more tragedies in the future … I pray this young man found his way to a rock and is found safe
Kiara please contact me please ask KJ to check his Instagram for my number. I am devastated. I love him so much.
My prayers are with the family and I pray that God continue to bless you and your family I did not know the young man but I am acquainted with the family we attend the same church God can do anything but fail Rev. Tyler
I fish the North Jetty a lot and ONLY go out there when Mother Nature allows me, granted even when it’s pretty safe, I see lots of tourist and non locals going out there horsing around. If your in unfamiliar terrain, don’t try anything you’ve never done before. Let’s just all send a prayer for this young man and his family.
