SoHum Chamber’s Featured Business of the Week: The Brass Rail

Southern Humboldt Chamber of Commerce

Every week the Southern Humboldt Chamber of Commerce features a business of the week. We’ll be sharing their posts here to celebrate our community.

Brass Rail Inn

Brass Rail Bar

This week’s featured “Business of the Week” is The Brass Rail Bar!

The iconic Brass Rail building was built way back in 1922 and has been involved in many different sorts of businesses over the past 96 years including a tea house, lodge, 4 star steak house and even a brothel!

The Brass Rail went under new ownership back in January 1, 2015 and is currently owned by Natalie West. Later on that same year, community member Eryn Snodgrass became Co-owner with Natalie.

Today this building operates as a full service venue and bar hosting a wide variety of events! Some weekly regulars are: the always well attended and popular pool tournament, Taco Tuesday & Karaoke party, 50 cent chicken wings on Wednesdays, live music bands and DJ’s on the weekends! The Brass Rail is also perfect for after parties, surprise birthday bashes, special events such as Burlesque, Murder Mystery, Bingo, themed costume parties and so much more!

This fun filled, action packed full service bar has excellent choices in craft beers, ciders as well as makes a great cocktail!

Offering daily Happy Hour drink specials, the bar is open from 4:00 pm until 2:00 am serving delicious pub-style food from 8:00 pm until midnight! This is the only late night kitchen open in Southern Humboldt, they have one heck of a tasty burger and take-out is available upon request!

When asked what sets this business apart from the rest the owner’s reply was, “We have the kind of well-worn character that money can’t buy! Our walls are truly rich with history and some even say we have a ghost!”

The bartenders that work here are friendly, fun and offer great customer service with a smile! Both Natalie and Eryn are the hands-on type of owners, which sure helps keep things running smoothly and efficiently for everyone!

A lot of people don’t know that the Brass Rail serves hot food until midnight and that they do not own the neighboring motel which was formerly named, “The Brass Rail Inn”. The motel next door is currently under new ownership and being renovated as we speak! When it is ready to open it will be named “The Northern Inn”.

The owners of the Brass Rail would like the community to know that they love and support the Southern Humboldt area and enjoy giving back as much as they can by helping support local non-profit organizations such as the Mateel Community Center and KMUD. They recently sponsored a ladies slow pitch softball team called the Brass Rail Vixens!

If you are looking for some entertainment in the evening and want to spice things up a bit, head on over to The Brass Rail and see what’s going on! Enjoy a refreshing cocktail as you sit next to the warm fireplace with your friends. Be sure to say hi to “Eddy”, the bull elk that sits above the fireplace and has kept an eye on things for as long as everyone can remember!

The Brass Rail is located at 3188 Redwood Drive, Redway CA, 95560.

For more information please call: 707-923-3188 or email them at: [email protected]

Thank you Brass Rail Bar for offering up years of fun entertainment for our area, we are proud to have you as a member with the Chamber!

Thank you so much for the feature! We are so grateful! We have worked very hard over the last 4 years to clean up the business and its public image, and create a fun, safe and inclusive environment for all!
I just wanted to point out a few small corrections; the first photo above is captioned “Brass Rail Inn” but it is actually a photo of Brass Rail Bar, not the Inn, which has been closed down for a long time now. The bar and motel are not affiliated and have not been since Jan 1, 2015.
Also, my name is Natalie West, not Estes.
Thanks again for the feature spot! We are so thankful for the positive publicity. 🙂

I never really hear anything positive about the Brass Rail so I have never given it a shot, but it sounds maybe it’s time.
