Soroptimist International of Humboldt Bay Offering Six Awards/Scholarships

EUREKA—Soroptimist International of Humboldt Bay announce that there are six monetary awards and/or scholarships available through their club.


Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women

This award honors women who, through their professional or personal efforts, are making extraordinary differences in the lives of women or girls. Honorees are women who have worked to improve the lives of other women or girls. Their work has had a significant impact, and also inspires and encourages other women.

The winner of this club-level award will receive a $1000 donation to the charity of her choice and be recognized at an event in her honor.  She will also be eligible to compete at a higher level of Soroptimist organizations.  The winner of the finalist award will be selected by an online poll. She should be available to accept the award in person and will receive an additional monetary donation to a charitable organization of her choice. Women may nominate themselves or another woman they feel are deserving of this honor. Live Your Dream Award:

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards give women the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. Eligible applicants must be women who provide the primary financial support for their families, and who are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/ skills training program or an undergraduate degree program. The women may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, including books, childcare and transportation. The program begins on the local club level and the winner will receive an award of $1500.  This winner will also become eligible to receive region-level awards, which are granted through Soroptimist’s 28 geographic regions. Currently, each Soroptimist region grants one first-place monetary award.  Application forms are available through Lesa Connell (707) 843-6015
