Six Rivers National Forest Releases Aquatic Restoration Document for Public Review/Comment

This is a press release from the Six Rivers National Forest:

United States Forest Service USFSEUREKA, Calif. – Six Rivers National Forest Supervisor Ted McArthur has announced the release of the Six Rivers Aquatic Restoration Project Draft Environmental Assessment (draft EA) to aid in the recovery of North Coast salmon and steelhead, and enhance habitat for other aquatic species.

The restoration of fisheries and habitat for aquatic species is a shared vision among the forest, its partners and stakeholders. Funding to facilitate the development of the draft EA, including fish, wildlife, botany and archeology surveys, was provided through a grant from the California Coastal Conservancy through the Mid Klamath Watershed Council.

Taking a collaborative-based approach, the draft EA proposes implementing a suite of instream and riparian habitat restoration actions that would reconnect and enhance spawning and rearing habitats, and improve habitat complexity alongside streams, ponds and lakes.

This draft EA was guided by the California Office of Planning and Research’s NEPA and CEQA: Integrating Federal and State Environmental Reviews, which encourages federal, state and local agencies to coordinate the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) processes so that one environmental document is prepared that meets the requirements of both. The environmental analysis encompasses streams, lakes and ponds throughout the Six Rivers National Forest, as well as the Ukonom Ranger District of the Klamath National Forest, which is administered by the Six Rivers.

The Six Rivers Aquatic Restoration Project draft EA is available for review at the Forest Supervisor’s Office, 1330 Bayshore Way, in Eureka, California; ranger district offices in Gasquet, Orleans, Willow Creek and Mad River; and online at www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=42051.

Comments are being accepted until November 19, 2018, and may be mailed to: Six Rivers National Forest, 1330 Bayshore Way, Suite 102, Eureka, CA  95501; hand-delivered Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm (excluding holidays); faxed to (707) 441-3598; or emailed to [email protected]  in a common format (e.g., .doc, .docx, .pdf, .rtf, .txt) with the Subject: Six Rivers Aquatic Restoration Project. Comments received, including the names and addresses of those who comment, will be considered part of the public record for this proposal and will be available for public inspection.

For additional project information, contact Karen Kenfield, fisheries biologist, at (707) 441-3585 or [email protected].

The root is in what is bought in towns and put in rivers.a chemical industry driven by capitalism and stress interacting.starting with biggest seller in eureka that has demonstrated poisoning of rivers with a brinks pickup every two days.front a thousand for three?
