Vegetation Fire With Power Lines Down off Blue Slide Road West of Rio Dell

power lines downPower lines are down and a vegetation fire is burning west of Rio Dell off of Howe Creek Road which is accessed off of Blue Slide Road, according to a report on the scanner about 10:40 a.m.

The first firefighter on scene reported a five by five spot fire.

Saw 1240 haulin ass, also haulin a dozer south on Fortuna Blvd. must have been where he was headed. Glad they got it taken care of.

Whoops looks like PGE forgot to block grid shutoff Rio Dell power before this happened. What caused it ? High winds? Freak of nature? Apparently as long as power is running through lines up above we are all at risk of fire.

Somebody struck the pole with a vehicle and burned a power line down. So, more accurately, as long as people drive recklessly and crash into things, things will continue to blow up and start fires
