Seems like someone is starting fires and heading west…
I was hoping for NO NEW fires with all this wind but…. !!! :-C
I Lived in Hawkins Bar many years ago til I was around 4 YO then my Father who worked for what is now Cal Trans, was transferred to Blue lake where I lived until I was around 30 or so!!! Back then there were 2 separate parts of it one was Maintenance which is mostly what Cal Trans does now & Construction which actually built the roads!!! They have independent contractors doing that now!!!
Thanks for covering this and assembling all the scattered sources in one place!
There is a red flag warning in effect today. The wind was quite breezy in the early afternoon, but was blowing downriver, not up, as is usual. Someone call Rockslide and get the scoop…
Any further updates? I have a summer cabin approx 2 mi east of Willow Creek and would like to know how close this might be?
Hard to find good info, this site is the best. Seems like things are under control and the fire wasn’t actually that large. You are probably fine but we need more info, especially with the winds.
We have heard that the home was demolished late afternoon yesterday. It belonged allegedly to a deceased judge and was not inhabited. The home was located down nearer the river than other Susie Q Road homes.
Kim…this area is located about 20-25 minutes east of WC. Today is still a Red Flag day, tho we have no wind here near Salyer. Bless the fire fighters!
