This is a press release from Trinity County Health and Human Services:

TRINITY COUNTY – The influenza (flu) season is upon us and Trinity County Public Health urges everyone 6 months of age and older to get their flu vaccination.

Flu symptoms generally begin with an abrupt onset of fever, muscle aches, sore throat and cough that may last for several days or weeks. Infants, seniors, and individuals with chronic health conditions are more likely to become seriously ill if infected by the influenza virus.

Trinity County Public Health will begin providing FREE flu vaccination to the general public at the following locations:

  • • DRIVE-THRU Flu Clinic at the Trinity Alps Performing Arts Center in Weaverville on November 1st, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • • Every Monday (except Holidays) 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. beginning October 22, 2018 at the Public Health Department, 51 Industrial Park Way Weaverville. Please call 530-623-8209 to make an appointment, walk-ins are welcome

Flu vaccination may also be obtained through your primary care provider office, or a local pharmacy.

Trinity County Public Health urges you to take the following actions to protect yourself and others against the flu and prevent flu related serious illness.

1. Get vaccinated:

  • a. Vaccination against flu is important to prevent serious illness.
  • b. Infected persons can spread the illness before they know they have it.
  • c. Reduces the risk of flu-associated hospitalization for children, working adults and older adults.
  • d. Protects pregnant women and their newborns.

2. Take everyday preventative actions to stop the spread of germs:

a. Cover your coughs and sneezes

b. Wash your hands.

c. Stay home when you are sick.

3. Antiviral medications may be a treatment option if you get sick with the flu:

a. Those at high risk for complications including pregnant women should check with their medical

provider regarding treatment with antiviral medication.

b. Antiviral drugs are most effective when they are started within 2 days of getting sick, although

starting them later can still be helpful

2a.
I swear, people around here cough just as they walk past you. Kind of like a greeting or excuse to not say hi.
Watch. You’ll see. Folks clear their smoked out throat, right when a normal person would nod or smile.

Might be a good idea to set up checkpoints in TPines, check for tire chains, and vaccinate everyone.
That’s the Trinity County we want to see….
