Six Rivers National Forest Lifts Fire Restrictions

EUREKA, California – Due to recent rainfall, higher humidity, and cooler temperatures, Forest Supervisor Ted McArthur has announced that fire restrictions would be lifted throughout the Six Rivers National Forest on Friday, October 5, 2018.
Lifting of fire restrictions means that forest visitors may once again have open campfires outside of designated campgrounds, provided they are in possession of a valid California campfire permit. The permit is free from any US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, or California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) office. You may also obtain a California Campfire Permit online at www.preventwildfireca.org.
Although the Six Rivers National Forest has lifted its fire restrictions, CAL FIRE’s Humboldt Del Norte Ranger Unit continues to have a burn ban in place. Please contact your local CAL FIRE office for more information.
“I want to encourage everyone to get out and enjoy all the Six Rivers has to offer, but be careful with fire,” said McArthur. “Lifting our fire restrictions does not mean fire season is over. A wildfire could still occur on the forest, particularly if windy conditions prevail.”
