[UPDATE 11:15 a.m.] Vehicle Rollover on the Holmes Summer Bridge on the Eel River; Extrication Needed
A single vehicle rolled over on the Shively Holmes summer bridge about 10:50 a.m., according to a report on the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page. That report states that there are two people in the vehicle. One is handicapped.
According to the person reporting the accident, The vehicle was trying to back up, went into a ditch, then overturned. The vehicle is not in the water, according to the scanner.
UPDATE 11:11 a.m.: The two occupants are out of the vehicle. NOTE: New directions state this is the Holmes summer bridge.
UPDATE 11:15 a.m.: The patients have minor injuries, according to the Incident Commander speaking over the scanner.

Holmes bridge can be driven on?
In the summer! Log trucks do it with no problem but I guess some drivers of smaller cars just can’t keep it between the navigational beacons. Backing up seems like a poor decision, too, on a bridge made from a rail car with no guardrails…
Its made of old cement,the shivly bridge is a rail car. But still a bad idea to try to back up on.
The bit closest to Larabee is a rail car that they pull out in winter. But yes, the Holmes side is a cement “low water” bridge.
This is the bridge from Larabee side. You can barely see the Holmes end in the distance.
