HumboldtSports.com to bring you local sports. We’ll be sharing a teaser and a link to his stories here for easy access. Click through to his site for the latest in local action but here’s a preview of his story about today’s away game for the College of the Redwoods football team:
We’ve joined forces with Ray Hamill of Saturday’s matchup between College of the Redwoods and De Anza in Cupertino was every bit the explosive offensive battle we expected.
When the dust had settled, however, it was the home team that was left standing, coming away with a 42-34 win.
The loss was the third on the season for the Corsairs, who dropped to 1-1 in conference and 2-3 overall.
“It was a hard contested game,” CR head coach Frank Borba said. “The stuff you want to see from a college football game. But unfortunately we came out with the loss.”

Hi Kym and Ray, you might check with the CR Athletics Dept, but I believe they recently changed their mascot from Corsairs to Redwoods. I got wind of that when I was doing some marketing for them.
I noticed they had that great logo and the word Woods on the front in some of their photos but they are happily retweeting the Times-Standard and Humboldt Sports stories with Corsairs on it… They are also still listed as the Corsairs here…https://www.mascotdb.com/teams/college-redwoods-corsairs
Looks like something is happening though. I’ll try and find out.
