Vehicle Versus Pedestrian
A blue Nissan Xterra and a pedestrian were involved in an accident on Broadway and West Grant in Eureka about 9:45 a.m. The pedestrian received injuries.
An ambulance and other emergency vehicles are responding. Please be alert if driving in the area.

Just going out on a limb here, but my guess is the pedestrian was one of Eureka’s finest, not paying attention, or crossing outside of a designated pedestrian crosswalk (as so many of them are doing these days). Hopefully the driver has insurance, because the pedestrian will likely sue for a quick buck. OR, the pedestrian is a law abiding citizen who was hit by an errant driver. My bet is the former, and not the latter. Sorry for the pessimism.
There is not enough information to judge in the story but my opinion is that the risk of that happening on Broadway is high enough for me to avoid it.
You obviously don’t walk in Eureka. Homicidal drivers everywhere. I am nearly killed once a week in crosswalks.

Yes Broadway’s becomes very dangerous people just walk out in the middle of traffic I feel sorry for the innocent drivers or simply driving down Broadway like they’re supposed to do and idiot people walk out in front of them I see no way of stopping this
Broadway is a hazard, but Eye street during the noon hour and after school times. High school students will walk out in front of traffic. Some purposely and some while on their cell phones or in conversations with fellow students. I personally know of one student who was on his cell phone and walked out in front of a truck and lost his life. A terrible lost of a young life. Who knows maybe the student would have discovered a cure for a disease or discovered a way to feed people better. But he was a total loss. Some teens feel they are invincible. Any street where young people congregate is dangerous.
in Germany they have subways to cross busy streets for pedestrians and they put cool little shops down there too
…..and everyone gets free beer.
I wouldn’t recommend going into a dark flooded alley under broadway.

People drive so carelessly around here; and there are no cops anywhere.
