Arson Suspect Sought in Suspicious Fire at Saint Bernard’s Church in Eureka

On September 10, 2018, at about 5:06 a.m., officers of the Eureka Police Department (EPD) responded to Saint Bernard’s Church for a suspicious fire report.

Humboldt Bay Fire Department personnel had extinguished a small fire to an exterior door of the facility. The fire appeared to be suspicious in nature, but caused minor damage.

Officers are investigating this event as an arson and are requesting the public’s help in identifying a possible suspect, who was captured on surveillance footage.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Officer Dalby at 707-441-4060.

Sorry to hear that. So it was a murder by fire in downtown Arcata. No wonder we really didn’t hear the result. That college town sure is good at ignoring the bad news all around it and plugging only the positive PR stories. I’m guessing that nobody was ever arrested for the public murder?

Humboldt will wash all serious crimes under the table but will keep focusing on Marijuana Cultivation to make it seem pot grows are the big crime. Meanwhile murders and home invasions aee ignired as they do not make the county money and sheriffs have no opportunity to steal cash or jewelry. Why solve crimes that make no money….. They are a busines if extortion, if there is no money to take for free then they dont bother with the crime.
