Firefighters Rescue Woman From Devil’s Elbow
about 3:30 p.m. to around mile marker 4 on Hwy 96.
“The crews made it to near where the patient was and realized they were going to have to hoist her with ropes,” Falk said. “They also requested assistance from a US Forest Service crew for more personnel…The [Incident Commander] ordered Salyer Fire’s hovercraft and the CHP helicopter with lift capabilities just in case.”
Falk explained, “Crews were able to get her up to the ambulance with the ropes.” The hovercraft and the helicopter were cancelled.
The patient was taken to the hospital by Hoopa Ambulance.

Is that the skinny dipping spot by Tegmyers old place
No, not that far from wc. Near Whitson’s I believe.
Yes crusty. It’s the same swimming hole.
It’s not tagmyers ‘old’ place. The swimming hole is usually called tagmyers not devils elbow. Just don’t leave your vehicle there overnight or it’ll get torched!
Damn! If you really don’t want anyone else to park there overnight you could try asking nicely. No need to go torching cars. They already have enough of that in Hoopa and Weitchpec
No ones interested in this hover craft deal?.. .. whats the story with that?
Here, here. More about the hovercraft.
It’s an old rebuilt one Hawkins Bar vfd used to.own. Can get to people along the river in slots boats or Fire engines cant. Not much more to say about it…
Devil’s elbow is closer to Tunnel Flat river access by Salyer. I’ve heard many people over the years mistakenly refer to the Horse Linto creek swimming hole as Devil’s Elbow. Horse Linto is by Ptegmeier’s old property, half way between Willow Creek and Hoopa. Some people refer to it as the “hike down spot.”
Both are popular with nudists.
That said, I’ve seen a couple fractured ankles at Horse Linto over the years, and in other spots. If you can see the bottom, don’t jump off the rock or at least limit your jump to a lower rock.
But the accident today was at tagmyers, not in Salyer. Just to be clear. I’ve never heard of anywhere near salyer being called devils elbow either, but I believe you. People have all different names for different spots.
Great job FFs!
Dat ‘ol debbil.
Thank you Willow Creek
