Equity Arcata Hosting ‘Home Away From Home’ Potluck on Sunday, September 9

This is a press release from the City of Arcata:

Arcata, CA, 2018 – The City of Arcata, in partnership with Equity Arcata and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, is pleased to be a sponsor of the upcoming Home Away From Home Potluck.

In the spirit of camaraderie and goodwill, the Home Away From Home Potluck is Equity Arcata’s quarterly community-building event created to act as a bridge between students, local businesses and members of the community. College students are invited to enjoy a free meal, receive information about jobs and housing, help themselves to donated items from the “Free Stuff Table” and participate in a free raffle sponsored by local businesses.

The theme for this event’s “Free Stuff Table” is Setting Up House: Housewares and Toiletries, and Equity Arcata is currently seeking community donations of new or lightly used household and unused toiletry items. A Home Away From Home donation drop-off station will be set up at City Hall, located at 736 F Street in Arcata, on Tuesday, September 4 through Friday, September 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Local businesses who have raffle donations or job openings to share are asked bring those items or information to the potluck, or to call 707-822-5953 to make drop off arrangements prior to the event.

The Home Away From Home Potluck will take place at the D Street Neighborhood Center located at 1301 D Street in Arcata on Sunday, September 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Community members who wish to attend the potluck are asked to bring a home-cooked dish large enough to serve ten people with a serving utensil or a hot pad if needed. College students are asked to only bring their appetites. For more information, call 707-822-5953 or 707-630-5081.
