Humboldt & Del Norte Central Labor Council Endorses Susan Seaman for Mayor of Eureka

This is a press release from the Humboldt & Del Norte Central Labor Council:

EUREKA, CA – The Humboldt & Del Norte Central Labor Council delegates have voted to endorse Susan Seaman for Eureka’s next Mayor. The Labor Council delegates were particularly enthusiastic about Susan’s economic development plan that would not only support Eureka now, but also into the future, her desire to engage young professionals from the trades to the creative class, and Susan’s commitment to a democratic process that is transparent and inclusive. Candidate Seaman, currently working at Arcata Economic Development Corporation, has long roots in the community having lived in Eureka for over 27 years and previously working as the Public Information Director at KEET and having operated a local small business.

“Susan Seaman’s clear plan for progress in Eureka puts her head and shoulders above the competition for Eureka’s next Mayor.” Said Labor Council President Mike Hetticher. “She’s really put the time and effort into creating a comprehensive policy platform the effectively addresses Eureka’s most pressing issues. From affordable housing and homelessness, to community safety, to addiction or to economic development and the environment, Susan has a plan to keep Eureka progressing towards that future we all deserve.”

“Most of our big challenges in Eureka are born from poverty, often multi-generational poverty. Building a stronger economic foundation is the key to improving the community overall, and the best way to do that is by nurturing those businesses and industries that provide quality, living wage jobs,” said Candidate Seaman. She added that there is a lot to be excited about right now, as well. ”Our city has an amazing new waterfront trail, we’re making progress towards developing our boardwalk, we have a recently appointed

Cultural Arts District, our parks are seeing upgrades, and there are new businesses looking to locate to eureka. I am excited to continue Eureka on this path of progress.”

Regardless Eureka will never change,it has always been party central from its inception to today. First the gold miners, then the loggers and mill workers and now the growers, and the homeless. Good luck to ya.
