As containment lines grow longer, 527 miles on the Ranch Fire alone, the Mendocino Complex is slowing. It grew about 4000 acres yesterday for a total of 384,567 and it is 79% contained.

The Plan:

The Ranch Fire continued to creep to the north yesterday. However, firefighters are putting a noose of containment lines around the beast and slowing it to a crawl.
According to Cal Fire,

Overnight on the Ranch Fire, firefighters continued preparing for firing operations, building containment lines and mop up. Firing
operations will continue today as weather conditions allow.

No growth is expected now in the south half of the fire.

The River Fire is now completely contained. Total acreage on the fire is 48,920.

The Weather:

The National Weather Service is predicting it will be sunny and hot today again. Smoke is expected to be strong throughout the region. Expect light winds also.

The Roads:

All major roads are open throughout the Mendocino Complex.  However, many smaller roads are closed so check Cal Fire for the latest.

Anyone:

Any idea on the % of land in Lake County alone that the Ranch fire alone has burned?

I have been wondering something similar. My question is what parts of Lake County have not burned in the last 4 years?

This map gives the history of fires in the area in an easy to read and understand manner. In fact, your links on this website to maps have this Social Studies teacher’s gratitude. Thanks!

In the 2015 lightning fires of trinity, the record searchlight posted a 10% count for the amount of land burned that year in trinity.

The ranch is one fire, and it seems like it would be a % of the county.
