Healy Senior Center Holding Annual Yard Sale This Weekend to Support Meals on Wheels Program

This is a press release from the Healy Senior Center:

The Healy Center is having our annual yard sale to support our Meals on Wheels program. It’s our largest annual fundraiser so we’re hoping for a great turnout of shoppers. We have a long history of not turning away any senior who needs a meal delivered to their door, no matter whether they can pay for it and that will never change. But because many of our Meals on Wheels clients cannot pay full price for their delivered meals ($6), we only receive an average payment of $3.25 per meal we deliver. So the Giant Yard Sale is one of three fundraisers that we are planning to keep the program strong and going well into the future.

It’s the same schedule as last year: the Drive-Thru Drop-Off is happening on Thursday and Friday, and the Giant Yard Sale is on Saturday and Sunday. We ask for a $1 donation for admission to the Giant Yard Sale.

By the way, we currently have open slots in our Meals on Wheels delivery schedule, so we encourage any older adults (especially disabled and/or homebound adults – we are always anxious to help them and ensure they are fed) to call us at (707) 923-2399 and get on our Meals on Wheels delivery schedule.

Also, we are offering frozen meals straight from the Healy kitchen for $5 donations and these are for sale to the entire community, not just seniors in SoHum! We’re open three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

my grandfather would not have survived in Briceland for so many years without the Healy Center . Meals on wheels saved his life! I tried to get my mom to go over to the Healy for lunch but she doesnt like being known as a senior and says it makes her feel old

I agree. I’m 70 and I don’t want to be known as a senior. I still feel (relatively) young. I like the Healy Center. My neighbor is a shut in and she gets deliveries from them. Wish I could stop by the yard sale. I got some good stuff there last year.
