Eureka Honors Coast Guard with Plaza Dedication Ceremony
This is a press release from the City of Eureka:
June 3, 2000, Eureka was officially designated the second United States Coast Guard City in the Country. During that time the City has celebrated US Coast Guard Month every August, to honor the men and women who serve in this branch of the armed forces. The Coast Guard was founded on August 4, 1790, and has a long and rich history of service to Humboldt Bay, and the City of Eureka, dating back to 1856.
This year the City of Eureka, in order to recognize and thank the men, women and families of the Coast Guard for their many contributions to the welfare of our community, [planned a number of events and activities, and invited the public to attend].
For August 4th’s Coast Guard Plaza Dedication, attendees gathered at the foot of F Street during First Saturday Night Arts Alive in Eureka. Here are some photos of the gathering provided by Donald Wilkes:
