You’re Invited to the Second Annual Redwood Pride on September 29th

This is a press release from the Redwood Pride:

Please join us on Saturday, September 29th for Redwood Pride 2018! The Second Annual Redwood Pride is a day chalk full of Pride activities centered around cultivating community and inclusivity in the heart of the Redwoods. The Community Festival located at the Jefferson Center will begin at 10am running throughout the day. At approximately 4pm the festival will culminate into the Pride Parade marking the close of the Festival – the time and route are still in the planning stages, more information will be announced as it becomes available. Saturday evening a Pride Night celebration with live music and entertainment will be hosted at the Eagle House in old town Eureka.

Pride is and has been an important event for the LGBTQ+ community and allied supporters, both at home and throughout the world. That’s why a new, energetic, and innovative planning committee is dedicated to making this year’s Redwood Pride event as BIG and as COLORFUL as possible. As we come together to celebrate, we feel it is equally important to raise community awareness of available resources and support, as well as build a stronger community through fellowship and a commitment to the betterment of all.

The Jefferson Center is a community center in Eureka that offers numerous services to the community and is the perfect location for the Pride Community Festival. There will be live music, food, vendors, community organizations, fun classes and demonstrations on a variety of topics, a clothing swap, and much more! ASL services and childcare will both be available throughout the event and we encourage you to bring your family and friends out for a memorable day of fun at this beautiful location.

Saturday evening, the Eagle House will be hosting Pride Night. There will be a Drag Fashion and Performance show followed by live music from several DJs. Local food trucks will be on hand and the Eagle House will have Pride Night themed beverages. Not only will the first 50 party-goers take home door prizes, but there will also be a silent auction featuring LGBTQ+ artwork to support local artists, a raffle for fun local prizes, a late-night dance party “Eagle House” style, and so much more! There is no cover and everyone is welcome to attend.

If you would like to stay at the Eagle House for the event, a limited number of rooms will be available. These rooms are first come, first serve and we expect them to fill up quickly. Call 707-444-3344 to reserve a room and if you book before September 1st and mention “PRIDE”, a 10% discount will be applied to your rate. Online booking is not available for this event.

If you are part of a local business or organization that would like to become a Pride sponsor, vendor, or community partner, or you would like to volunteer on the day of the event, please find the information and forms at redwoodpride.com.

Redwood Pride is a proud DreamMaker project of Ink People Center for the Arts. As much as I’d like an excuse to wear my favorite t-shirt (comment image ), there’s just nothing at these events that sounds remotely interesting in any way….
