Arcata PD, Arcata Fire & CHP Hosting National Night Out Event August 7th
This is a press release from the City of Arcata:
Arcata, CA, July 27, 2018 –Arcata Police Department is proud to be partnering with Arcata Fire District and California Highway Patrol (CHP) for the National Association of Town Watch’s National Night Out campaign.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that provides the opportunity to bring first responders and community members together to help build and enhance their relationships. By promoting partnerships between first responders and the communities they serve, National Night Out events serve to help to create safer neighborhoods.
“National Night Out provides a wonderful opportunity for the City of Arcata to join communities across the country to help promote cooperative police-community crime prevention efforts in a fun and engaging setting. We are excited to be working with Arcata Fire District and CHP to get to know members of the community we serve. In my experience, I have found that when communities and first responders can get to know each other, it is easier for us to work together to build safer neighborhoods,” said Rick Ehle, APD’s Interim Chief of Police, of APD’s participation.
On Tuesday, August 7, APD will host a National Night Out event in partnership with Arcata Fire District and CHP. This family-friendly event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Arcata Community Center located at 321 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway.
Attendees will enjoy a hot dog barbecue and fun activities including a water balloon toss, face painting, beading activities for kids and safety demonstrations by APD, Arcata Fire District and CHP.
National Night Out is free and open to the public thanks to the generosity of community sponsors including Arcata Main Street, Humboldt Patient Resource Center, Murphy’s Market, Safeway, Cash and Carry and Hensel’s Ace Hardware.
