A white truck caught fire on Hwy 101 near College of the Redwoods at approximately 1:37 p.m. The three occupants got out of the vehicle without injury.

The fire spread to the vegetation but firefighters got on scene and are squelching the flames.

Southbound traffic is being diverted to the number 1 lane next to the yellow line.

UPDATE 2:25 p.m.: The fire is now out and firefighters are mopping up.

According to Andy Helzer, Assistant Fire Chief in Loleta, the pickup was fully involved when his engine and one from Fortuna arrived. The crews ran two lines to stop flames from spreading into the vegetation and to handle the burning vehicle.
