SoHum Chamber’s Featured Business of the Week: Signature Coffee Company

Southern Humboldt Chamber of Commerce

Every week the Southern Humboldt Chamber of Commerce features a business of the week. We’ll be sharing their posts here to celebrate our community.

This week’s featured “business of the week” is the Signature Coffee Company!

Owner/Founder Karyn Lee-Thomas started her journey selling coffee back in 1988 and soon opened her roastery in Redway in 1992!

Signature Coffee is an organic regional coffee roaster, supplying freshly roasted coffees to grocery and health food stores, restaurants and espresso shops.  Additionally, they supply coffee for offices and businesses and to just about anyone anywhere through mail order!

Offering only the best in quality of carefully selected organic beans, they brew freshly roasted coffee and offer five different varieties every day, rotating through their entire selection!

What sets Signature Coffee apart from the rest is that they were a leader in the organic movement decades ago, and still foster their commitment to combine the best most sustainable coffees for the planet and for that perfect blend of people and planet!

Did you know that they have also planted thousands of trees to offset the carbon footprint?  Karyn states, “We award our customers who bring in their own mugs for brewed coffee and containers for their coffee beans”.

Some of the “perks” in grabbing your coffee here is the FREE club cards you can get, which awards one FREE drink after twelve drinks purchased, as well as one FREE pound of coffee for every ten pounds bought!  Who wouldn’t want a FREE drink on their birthday either!

Located right off of the main street at 3455 Redwood Drive in Redway CA, their roastery is open to the public.  The courteous and polite staff here at Signature Coffee looks forward to serving all of their customers!  Although it is always pleasant to meet new faces that come into the coffee shop, Karyn mentions that there’s something special about seeing the regulars from the community!

Speaking of community, the staff at Signature loves to help support other local businesses in the area.  Did you know that some of the pastries and goodies provided here were freshly baked and purchased from Flavors in Garberville?  Signature and Flavors Coffeehouse in Garberville have a great working relationship and it is great to see that in our community!  Karyn states “ We have supported our community with time, money and product for almost three decades, shopping local is what keeps all of our businesses thriving enough so we can give back to our community”.

A few other things you might not know about Signature Coffee is that they sell full 16oz. pound bags of coffee – not the 12oz. size.  They also offer 10% off of five pound bags!

If you are looking for a great cup of coffee and a good supply to have at home or in the office, stop on by Signature Coffee and pick some up!  The flavors are unique, the coffee is fresh, and it just doesn’t get any better than that!

Start your day off right with the perfect blend!

Signature Coffee is open Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am – 1:30 pm.  They are closed on Sundays.

For more information go to http://www.signaturecoffeecompany.com/ or call 707-923-2661.

Thank you Signature Coffee Company for all of your years of services to the community, and for your ongoing love and support for a much healthier planet!

Freshest coffee around!
Its awesome to get to buy fresh roasted beans, & such an amazing variety of coffee from all over the world.

Having worked at non-profit organizations, i can say that for over 20 years Karyn donated coffee to our cause every single time she was asked. Its very much appreciated.
She very much walks her talk.
Thank you Karyn for providing such a great and caring local business!!!

WTF???

It’s about the coffee, not the employee’s attire.

I don’t care much about attire. But hey, nice friendly smiles!

Since you brought it up FWW, the shirt tells of a person who is environmentally and energy-conscious, into healthy growing, and caring about the carbon footprint. Maybe organic, probably community oriented, and likely exercising homegrown grass-roots while keeping it local and simple. My, what you can infer from a shirt! Glad to see it in the otherwise greedy alternative scene of light-dep.

Come to think of it, I like my coffee the same way.

Really????.

Thx Rosie my thoughts exactly!
Anyone remember the great little write up years ago that we put in our bags of product that said “clear conscious bud collective, grown in the sun with no chemicals or diesel fuel….” it was better than that but you get the point. This was during the camp days when some folks chose to start growing indoors and having huge diesel tanks to run their generators. A lot of those tanks leaked, & created a way worse situation.
Plus how do you know thats not a company’s name??? Not any different from wearing a shirt that says budweiser or miller or marlboro.
I looked it up and guess what it is a company name…

Maybe you should have done the same instead of assuming.

There are many who have grown small batches of amazing sun grown outdoor cannabis in an incredibly responsible way. These are the folks who also grow food and (gasp) actually live on and homestead the same land they grow on. None of this go out to the hill for work and home somewhere else as has become so popular esp east of Arcata.

Thanks for the link!

I could never go into this business, since it’s, strangely, not open on the weekend, or during early “coffee hours”, but I did manage to buy a coffee grinder there once.

Good luck ladies, I enjoyed your french roast, which was served at Jerold Phelps Hospital, when I worked there… It was the only good thing about being in Garberville.

Love the razor-back shirt!

Let us go a few steps further. Signature coffee was open on Saturday early in the am and provided the coffee carafes with fantastic coffee for SHWT’s workshops. I still remember a Southern Humboldt Working Together workshop where Kathy Epling was smiling at me along with others for the fantastic coffee that was available. Signature coffee has always step up to the plate and further.

Glad to hear all of this. Sadly, I moved away. In 2012, I was unable to use this business, since I have my coffee early and am used to hipster coffee places being open by 0500, and on the weekend.

Signature coffee used to be closed on the weekend and before 0900. The french roast was good!

Thanks so much!

Wasn’t meant to. At least it didn’t reference WEED, bro. It’s about the coffee, not the clothing.

Bonnie, nothing wrong with my comment. I guess you can’t see the funny side. I just got a kick out of her apron.

Wow, SHOCKING. A reference to WEED in SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT.

We should start a petition to get the employee fired, or even to ban Sig Coffee from the county entirely.

Grow up and accept that the world IS NOT YOURS TO COMMAND, or move to Kansas and teach the kiddies that Darwin was Satan himself. While you’re at it, sail west a few thousand miles and fall of the edge. Forever.

PLEASE.

(I’ll be spectating from the sidelines, sipping my Sig coffee, trying not to snarf it through my nose as I laugh my ass off at your fate.)

Signature Coffee is an amazing company. I lived in Shelter Cove and would drive to work 4 days a week. They saved me with their breakfast goods and coffee. Better yet they donated to the Shelter Cove Community Playground fundraisers!! So Hum is incredibly lucky to have Karyn Lee-Thomas looking out for us!
