Man Sentenced to a Minimum of 34 Years in Killing of Fort Bragg Man

Caleb Dain Silver,

Caleb Dain Silver

Press release from the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office:

A man convicted of the Christmas 2015 murder of Denis Lee Boardman in Fort Bragg today received a life sentence in state prison in Mendocino County Superior Court.

Convicted by jury this past April of murder in the first degree, Caleb Dain Silver, age 28, was sentenced to 33 years, 8 months to life in state prison on a series of crimes, the most serious of which being the murder conviction.

Before the sentencing hearing could take place, proceedings were held during today’s morning session on Silver’s bid to set aside the verdicts and have a new trial. After reading the defendant’s motion and the District Attorney’s opposition papers, as well as hearing arguments from the attorneys for both sides, Superior Court Judge John Behnke denied the motion after finding the defense motion lacked merit.

During the afternoon court session, Judge Behnke having reviewed the Adult Probation Department’s background study and sentencing recommendation, accepted further arguments from the defense and prosecution as to what should be the appropriate sentence. Behnke heard from the victim’s daughter who presented a moving impact statement.

In a final move reminiscent of the O.J. Simpson playbook, the defendant also personally addressed the Court, in part expressing his regret that Mr. Boardman’s real killer was still on the loose.

The attorney who has handled the prosecution of this defendant from the original arraignment through today’s sentencing hearing is Deputy DA Tim Stoen.

Law enforcement agencies who investigated were the Fort Bragg Police Department, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, the Mendocino Major Crimes Task Force, the California Highway Patrol, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, the California Department of Justice forensic crime laboratories, and the District Attorney’s own investigators.

Behnke presided over the three trials leading up to the convictions.

“…the defendant personally used a hammer and a knife in the commission of the murder.”

Prison is WAY too good for this demented POS. Way too good.

How exactly can the family get closure on something terrible like this?

Personally, I feel death sentence is justified with the family members being given the option of carrying out the sentence.

Very sad, terrible to think he may actually walk free again as he’s young enough.

Too many liberals working in the justice system, which has been failed since Suffrage and the great social experiment, including hippies, and religious cults. The country was safer when horse thieves were hung.

Curse those too tolerant women for the reduction in lynchings. How dare they object to the manly art of mob violence.

Why is tim stoen allowed to work in the d.a.’s office while he had been the lawyer to mass murderer jim jones and assisted jones in his “murder cult?” and why is tom alman allowed to be sheriff while he is the “grandmaster” the head of the masons in mendocino county? Arent they one of the “secret societies” who plague american society and are a “crime syndicate & traitors who must be “abolished from all levels of government, including police forces & military for “their methods & modes of, communism, fascism & nazism” & for promoting, “national hatred & racial hatred”

California needs to bring back the gallows to let would be murderers and thieves see what happens to those who commit these crimes. Instead we have people like Kamala Harris, who wants to overfill our prisons, then legalize crime, and turn the state into a ghetto, getting the impoverished dependant on welfare, while the beurocratic elites embezell millions, increasing California’s $1.3 trillion debt, raising taxes, and embezzling millions, feeding scraps to their enablers, who vote for more government jobs and welfare. Which of course is followed by government tyranny, which is already an issue.
