Fortuna VFW Post #2207 Awarding Scholarships to ‘Four Young People’ Today

The Fortuna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2207 has selected four young people to receive scholarships this year. The awards will be presented at the Post’s monthly meeting at 7pm on July 9th, 2018 at 1426 Main Street, Fortuna.

The four recent high school graduates selected to receive the scholarships are: Ashlynn Zimmerman of Eureka, Bobbie Hazeleur of Redding, Bryn McFarren of Eureka, and Haley Ayers of Fortuna.

Each scholarship recipient is a son, daughter, granddaughter or grandson of a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars who is scheduled to attend either a college or vocational school.

The scholarship is meant to assist each student with some of their school expenses such as books, or fees.

Last year the local post awarded scholarships to three local youth, but is fortunate to be able to award four this year. This year’s Scholarships are awarded and named in honor of Joe Santoes and Roger Harwood.
