One Dead After Accident on 36

Hwy 36 Fatal fatalityOne person is reported dead after a vehicle went off Hwy 36 about a half mile east of the Shasta Trinity County line. About 4:12 a.m., a “Tahoe or similar vehicle” was found 100′ to 200′ off the side of the roadway, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.

One occupant was confirmed dead at 5:37 a.m. At 6:07 a.m, there is a mention of a gun being found. It is unclear from the report if this is just a firearm possessed by the occupant or if there is a crime involved.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Hwy 36 claims another life!!! The only “good” thing about it is, at least it wasn’t local around the Bridgeville area where most of the wrecks happen!!! Hope they find some peace on the other side!!!

Hey, that’s a half mile out of the triangle, your expanding your coverage!

Actually my mind had a fart, and I thought you must have meant something else, but nay.

Sorry, have a good day.

I have that, too, except I didn’t know its name. I say “right” for “left” and so on. I know where I’m going once I’ve been to a place a couple of times, by association, how things look and feel — but don’t ask me for directions if you want to get there.

Oh yippy skippy, another focused on g u n s article.
There may or may not have been a licensed conceal carry person involved in a fatal accident article would be just as disturbing as pointing out that the dead person might or might not have been some type of criminal. A person was killed in a fatal CAR accident, not a g u n accident ffs. Every person is to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
I therefore declare this person to be innocent until proven otherwise.
My heart goes out to the fatal victim’s loved ones, whether the victim was good or bad. I pray they all find peace and comfort, love and mercy. R.I.P.

Didn’t seem focused on the gun to me. It simply mentioned that there was a report of a gun there. Should she leave out things that were mentioned in the report? Sounds like a sensitive topic to you, but this was raw news that she was reporting.

What else was in the vehicle? Why weren’t those mentioned?

My point exactly. No stolen goods, no drugs, no human trafficking, … NADA.
Yet the narrative is focused on crime, the road, the possible speed of the driver, and everything except the comforting of the victim’s loved ones.
It’s pretty obvious it ticked me off.
My apologies to the loved ones for my awkward attempts at slapping the shit out of the callous in hopes of restoring a sense of humanity. May the loved ones find peace and comfort despite the sorrow.

Out of the atm 43 comments, only 4 (5, including me), had shared any caring thoughts to and for the family.

That’s what I read, an article about a man dying in a motor vehicle accident who just happened to have a gun in said vehicle!!! Nothing more, nothing less!!!

Yet neither of you can find any importance of the mentioning of the g u n in the vehicle. As far as I’m aware, g u n s are not illegal.
Yet neither of you care to share condolences to the family of the victim? Okaaaay.

Depending on the circumstance that gun may very well be illegal for the person to have. It could have also been 100% legal and nothing to worry about. Anything else in the vehicle that had a chance of being illegal, such as drugs, probably would have been mentioned too if found. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s not like the headline said evil gun found in wrecked vehicle over embankment with dead body.

(S)He can’t seem to let it go, for some reason he always comes back to the G U N!!! As if the mention of it is kind of BFHD!!! Which it is not, IM(ns)HO!!!

It was thoughtless and careless.
Look at the dam comments Kym. “4:00 am and a gun, rings of criminal intent to me” (paraphrased). ”
It shouldn’t have been mentioned at all until all the facts were known. This sounds like it was pure agenda driven.
Nobody gave a dam about the person, just because he traveled with self defense tool at ungodly hours of the night where evil lurks for the unprepared.
My heart goes out to the victim’s loved ones and I pray the community realizes the sorrow that others must be feeling right about now.

BS. Most of the comments couldn’t have cared less about the person, thanks to the callous reporting, but instead focused on the location, the g u n, the everything but the loss of a life.

Comments following below are more considerate of the person who lost their life. One person, for instance, shared who the person was.

The point of focus is lost on those who couldn’t care less about the life of a decent person. So be it.

It said found at the scene, not in the vehicle. If for example, it turned out to be a fully automatic rifle lying in the highway after the wreck, that would be newsworthy. Let’s wait and see what the updates bring as to what it was and how it pertained to the story…

Is that about one-a-day?

I knew I had to be crazy to drive 36, but it’s calling to me every time I drive up 5…

Fortuna, only 3-4 hours from Red Bluff, and a million ways to kill you!

Pretty though!

Slow, wide turns brother!

Drive safe, drive sober! Live to live another day…

I predict this is not the end of the chain…

Sadly, I have to agree even with the work on 36 being done, in Humbug County at least, it’s still dangerous if you don’t pay attention to how you drive!!! Such as keeping your foot out of the fuel injector for starters!!!

Unless the Road crumples on you and you fall over the bank into a river or something to that effect, how is a road dangerous? The only time a road is dangerous is when you’re driving too fast and or not paying attention to you’re driving or road conditions. 36 is a Winding Road you can’t go 65 on it safely.. this still sucks though, condolences.

The posted speed limit on Hwy 36 is 55, so doing 65 on it is most definitely NOT advisable!!!

Right up there with the bluff roads between gaberville and Ruth. Slow the heck down, stop cutting the corners and don’t forget it’s mostly a one lane road. Kudos for what fixes are being done(when done right) but is still pretty sad roadways. Watch people on 36, zenia/AP, a few other roads the county doesn’t even bother with, they are to distracted or driving to fast. On and my favorite, “I grew up on these roads and know them”…..well enough to drive like a conceded idiot. I’ve watched these roads change over days. Not weeks but days. Holes, sinking, slides, rock,an I’m sure that just the beginning. People mark the roads for each other because it’s so daily- let’s put a sign here, a cone there, throw some paint around or near that obstacle.

It’s true that speeding kills but the only time I came close to going over the edge of a cliff, I was going 25 mph. I just hit something slick on the road and my truck drifted over without traction.
