Man Arrested for Arson
This is a press release from the California Highway Patrol. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On July 4th, 2018 at approximately 1221 hours, CHP Officer’s on patrol in Weaverville observed a small grass fire starting on the north east corner of SR-299 at Lance Gulch. Officer’s notified CHP dispatch and began fire fighting measures to extinguish the flames. While on scene, they were notified by citizens that they had observed a male walking away from the area of the fire. Based on a description given by the witnesses, CHP Officers made contact with a male identified at Timothy Nunez near 1300 Main Street in Weaverville. Nunez was detained by CHP and Cal Fire was notified. After investigation, Nunez was placed under arrest by responding Cal Fire Law Enforcement Officers for arson. Nunez was booked into the Trinity County Jail.
