Was it actually a “Bomb” or just something that looked suspicious??? Inquiring minds or what little is left of mine, want to know!!!

Looks like a bottle wrapped in electrical tape…
Small enough that it might go unnoticed for weeks.
Who saw it? Why did they report it?
How was it “rendered safe”?
What was UNsafe about it besides the fact that no one knew what it was?
And, for that matter, inquiring minds want to know what it actually IS.
I do hope there will be updates…

I believe they typically render it safe by blowing it up, no questions asked. So it could of been a homemade explosive or it could of just been a glass vodka bottle wrapped in tape to prevent it from breaking, either way hard to tell after its “rendered” safe by a real explosive from the bomb squad.

The people working on the Eagle Scout project at the intersection found it. They thought it looked unsafe because the way it was taped and how it was propped up in the middle of the sign.

There are instructions online for making a thermos by wrapping a bottle with paper towel, foil and then electrical tape. Possibly this was someone’s DIY thermos.

There are homeless living in the woods across the road, but they probably already know that.

I think the main thing here is that we are continuously being pushed to live in fear by our great domineering government. 99.5% of the time it is reaction of hysteria!!

Surreal. This world nowadays… the unknown is always assumed a risk. What the heck. If i saw that bottle, i would have either thought, “Another weird unknown thing, probably number 9 million and something in my life… whatever, if people looked at my trash they might see some gizmos they couldn’t figure out, too,” and left it alone; or “I wonder what that is, so why don’t i pick it up and see.”
It’s true that someday you may be picking up my pieces out of trees and utility wires from my checking out a piece of trash, but so be it. Better unsafe and unsorry than safe and in such a sorry state of paranoia.

And what a way to use public money. Amazing to me.

Congratulations! You just won the interwebs.

Stay curious and if you live to be 5000+ years old there is a chance, albeit an extremely slight chance, that your guts will get splattered into the ether for being innocently curious.

Balance sheet for project piss bottle:

Cost to blow up a plastic bottle with overtime and all – $3875. + NRE for robot =- $175,420.85

Cost to assist the homeless troop across the road in the woods for one year = $2500.

God help us all.

EEExcellent. This comment is what the root of the issue is! I’m sure if our bloated gov needs more money out of us he’ll just find a new tax. Beware the day they start re-evaluating prop 13!!

I’ve been trained to spot IEDs and that looks like somebody’s art project.
